Im sure many of you farmers on here know that new fuel regulations have recently been introduced and farm diesel now has a higher biofuel content.

What i want to know is has anyone had any problems with fuel leaks after the change over? All three of our tractors have and they are all of different ages and I dont think it can be put down to general wear on all of them.

Just to be on the safe side we have fitted filters on the outlets of our tanks and use these filters when filling the tractors,....and touch wood,we havent had any problems yet....... ;)

Attached is an interesting article Tommy.

It does mention that some seals and pipe may not be compatible with bio diesel and would require replacing with appropriate parts. This diesel is in essence white road diesel with the red excise dye added, so contractors who use white in there tractors have been using this stuff for a while have any of them had problems?

As for the microbial growth might be worth looking at a biocide. Offshore we store diesel for months and when it is bunkered it is treated with biocide to kill any bugs will not cure the sludge issues but would increase storage length?
