A few of us were asked to come in one saturday to help keep ahead of the weather but this was the only load we actually tipped

This didnt help improve the load count

Not only was the header blocked but also back to the chopping cylinder

Little while after we had finished at the college farm and had to move over to the other farm that is run by the college that also happens to be my neighbours

Business as usual

Only trouble is the case we use for towing out is a new holland trial machine and could not be road registered so we had to load up the valtra

Nobody saw the weather coming that that UK and Ireland has endured for the last year, Ol. The rain has not stopped for more than a day at a time unless it has snowed. There is hardly a dry field in the land and thousands of acres are either not planted or not able to be harvested. A dreadful year. A good year for learning too Tommy with the challenges you have faced on the maize campaign, looks like it was a battle for a number of reasons up there on what normally is lovely, free draining sand and brash! Hope none of that glass got into the clamp..... Poorly cows next winter, look out!

Your right there Tris. The weather had been a challenge throughout the maize campaign and it really did give us some different experiences. I think we managed to collect nearly all of the glass but there still amy be a few poorly cattle due to the fact we kept digging in to the soil with the maize header.

I know someone that tipped a tractor on its back trying to pull out a combine from the top link bracket. I suppose everyone has to learn though, noboby's perfect.

Looks like you had a few problems with gathering the maize

To be honest I hadnt noticed that they were pulling from the top link bracket. I believe when we had to tow every load out of one of the fields we were towing from another point lower on the tractor as we do realise that pulling from a high point is more dangerous.

Seems it doesn't matter what country your in or which college you're at. It's all a big p*ss about . I remember my days and we had a chap carting maize with the back window open. Someone with a good aim on the forager couldn't resist filling the cab for a bit . Usually the boys who bragged most about their driving qualities would be the first to get bogged down. The worsed I did was beet lifting for college and a depth wheel of the topper snapped and went straight through the machine.
