BC
A couple of years ago I bought set 09638 in an Authentic Farm Models box (AFM) and the description on the box was VALTRA VALMET 8750 TRACTOR AND SNOW PLOUGH and it contained a blue Valmet 8750 with 4 spot lamps on top of the cab at the front. Many years prior to that I had bought set 9638 in a Authentic Model (BLUE SPOT) box (AMB) and it contained a white Valmet 8750 which looks the same as the blue one only it has 2 spot lamps on the top of the cab at the front. I have looked at both David Pullens bibles and have found the following. In the one 1948 to 1998 Page 265 a White Valmet 8750 with 2 cab spot lights in a (BLUE SPOT box) but described as model number 9438. Page 267 a White Valtra Valmet 8750 with 4 cab spot lights in an (AFM box) and again described as model number 9438. And 1998 to 2008 Page 468/469 - White Valtra Valmet 8750 with 4 spot lamps and described as model 09638 Perhaps the 9438 is a misprint and should be 9638? Turning back to my blue model Valmet 8750 with 4 cab spot lights I can find no reference to this model in the two books other than a Valtra Valmet 8750 on flotations described as No 09446 on pages 268 and 470 /471 in the two books mentioned above. In summary I'm a bit confused about the blue model in one of the sets and was wondering if anyone had any views on the subject.

stevestoys
Hi Bill,Yeah this blue model is a conversion as Britains never made this snowplough version in blue. The white version came out in 1997 and had 2 lights on the cab and valmet decals, the second version came out in1998-2001 and had 4 lights on the cab and different decals. The model you have is the blue Valtra Valmet 8750 with the 4 lights on the cab 1998-2000 model. This model has had the flotation tyres taken off and new wheels put on and a snowplough added. If i remember i saw this at a show and i think Stephen Frater might have done this model? Hope this helps.
BC
Thanks Shaun I'll ask Stephen the next time I see him and see if he remembers.
super6
It looks a lot better with out those awful floatation tyres on it. There are Sisu Valmets in red, white and blue, also Valtra Valmets in red, white, blue and Claas green. As you have found out the David Pullen books are by no means exhaustive. A bit like this forum which is a good thing, always learning
