Deere-est
Right then, today's instalment saw me on a little jaunt around Somerset and Devon. A nice couple of views along the way...
Deere-est
The lorry, early dawn and once the sun was up mid morning.
Deere-est
Another view of the countryside opening up, Devon in the distance. A cracking Deutz DX 4.56, wish I was bringing this back with me instead of the 290!! Looks like a right proper pocket rocket.
Deere-est
The snow coming in from the other side of the valley at the last point of collection. A typical Devon country lane, hardly enough space to fart!

nashmach
I kneeeeeeeeeeeew you'd like that, Colm!! I've been awaiting your reply. Know anything about that model? A guy near us has one - little pocket rocket! Around 90hp and replaced the 4.50 in the early 90's. Was replaced by the 4.57 (Britains model) All air cooled engines of course
Deere-est
Didn't get a shot of my outgoing load yesterday which was a pretty tidy MF50B digger on an A plate I think it was, delivered to a farm near Coventry. From there, across to Oswestry to pick up a little 168. That side of the country had a little snow and the roads are a little less busy too which showed on some of them. This shot taken in the Shropshire Hills en route to Bishops Castle.
Deere-est
Couple more shots in the same area, before Bishops Castle and the town/village itself. I loaded a dead engine 595 here but I seem to have deleted the photo On my 45min break I took a walk into the town to get some fish and chips. ... and nearly came back down the high street on my backside!!
Deere-est
Up at Cheffins today there was a container taking a consignment of two 3CX's, a yellow 135 or equivalent and a Fordson Major before I left with my return load after taking up a load of palletised spares. Those Caterpillars are some pretty impressive machines!! Must be half a dozen of them at the sale ground and JCB's as well.
Deere-est
Okeedokee then, this week I set off for a little hamlet to the North of Lampeter to deliver a load of conventional bale hay. Third time I have been there now. Whilst I was being unloaded their own 6830 was waiting to leave with a load on destined for a local farmer. First time have seen one of these trailers, further down the road I passed a farm with two Dooley silage trailers, again a first for me.
Deere-est
Once unloaded an hour and a half later, I jogged across to Aberaeron and followed the coast road down to Cardigan and just beyond to pick this up. The batteries were stolen over Christmas but the previous owner assured me some new batteries had been fitted and chained on. He was right and she fired up on the key like a new one! Nothing to do with Howards, purely transporting it to Tilbury dock for one of their customers and arranging the shipping for them. After tipping in Tilbury docks the following morning I ran empty to Cambridge to pick up some buys from the last sale and the sale previous to that! In the line still were these. I stunning little MF390 Lo-Profile with Hi-Line cab. There were two but buy the time I got there with the camera the other one of equal condition was in the back of a full tilt dutch lorry. Further down the line were this family, 8360, TM165 and an 8730.
Deere-est
Also in the line were numerous Renaults, John Deeres, Claas' ... everything really and this rather tidy Fastrac. Looked quite presentable anyway. And of course my return load which his time had an extra tractor on. Five MF 165's as opposed to four and a gap. The gap was just right for a fifth tractor with no wheels which fitted snuggly on sideways between the third and fifth tractors. The fifth one for same reason was painted blue. .... Not sure who will be more offended between Mark and Barry!
