leaving a wet and cool (but, of course, nevertheless beautyful England) we arrived back in Germany 10 days ago, where we found sun and high temperatures again and had almost totally missed the harvest of winter barley ...

Just one mile after passing the Dutch-German border tremendous action began with harvesting rape (here a CLAAS Dominator 66):

Yeah, I am a lucky bastard regarding farming action here in the "Lower Rhine" (Niederrhein) region: Within a range of some 10 miles from home I can find the following agricultural topics well represented:

- Diary farming (pastures, hay) - becoming more and more reduced from year to year

- Full field farming only with: aspargus, barley, beans, carrots, chives, lettuces, maize (silage and corn), oat, onions, parsley, peas, potatos, rape, rye, sugar beet, wheat, tulips (and I am sure I forgot something)

- Machine range from old to new, from small to large

However, "hopefully" my dedication to this forum will be reduced within a few days, as I got in serious (positive) contact with a farmer in our region (thanks to taking pictures). He already gave me a rough introduction and the chance for a test ride on his John Deere 6920 and I might begin grubbing his stubble fields tomorrow, weather permitting. You all will understand that I must take this chance, even if this means less time for this forum und modell farming in general ;-)
