I think there will always be people who prefer the old models over the new ones. The generations who played with old 5000 supermajors and 5000 force models along with the later 135 and 6600 will still find a place in their hearts for the old stuff. Its a nostalgia thing and while there are older collectors around there will be a market for the older models. I also think there are plenty of youngsters around who collect old and new models which is a good thing. As you all know,my favourites are the Fordsons which are long before my time. I can't explain why I like models which were made before me ,because I didn't even know they existed until about 2001,but I like the charm and the ideas that went into the first Britains tractors. I would like to think that some people born in the 1980s will look at the old 5000 in the same way. I will continue to build conversions based on the old and new 5000 bodies as they both seem to sell well. Like many of you have said,the prices are very seasonal and deeply affected by ebay. There are more buyers and sellers on ebay in the autumn and winter months simply because people have more time on their hands indoors. I hope you are all still awake after reading this..................

Brian Norman decals as well. I use Brian for all of my bits and Henri Walker for some decals.

I will gladly give you a price,I just want to do a few small mods first and tidy up the paintwork on the weights etc.

I haven't tried a 94t from the new 5000 yet but I have made a few with the old one. One for the near future though.

They are from Brian Norman actually mate,the County type at 40 pence each. The weight bracket is made from the hitch off an old 3 furrow plough. Its just the right width to fit the front of the tractor.....with a bit of fettling !

I started to build this a while back but it got put to one side. Seeing the new Britains 7000 inspired to me to complete it,but I still have some bits to finish on it. Hope you like it. I suppose I can use proper 7000 bonnet and cab when they are more readily available . \

Did Massey make all of those things in-house or sub it out to specialists ? \

I've just found my 1965 catalogue and scanned the picture of the log trailer. Hope some of you find it interesting.

Thanks Nigel,thats something else I have learnt today. I think they are shown in the mid 60s catalogues with bands holding them on. \ I am off to dig out my old catalogues to see.

The first picture here is my horse drawn log trailer. I think mine is a bit later than the earlier posted one and my one horse is off having a shoe fitted !

It looks very good on the photo. Looking forward to getting hold of some one day.
