all looks well chris was good to look back over the topic again , at least there were no leaks to contend with on the big tractor this year so all the ploughing was done 'in house ' so to speak , look forward to seeing this harvested , when the right weather comes i hate it when you get technical john

MJB1 replied to margerisons's topic in Latest Implement Conversions & Scratch Builds

never really thought about this before , malcy , but whats the attraction about claas for you , have you been involved with the machines in the past ?, user ? mechanic ? sales ? or just like the colour scheme ? have you got any kids or animals with the word claas in their names ?

Slurry tank conversion
MJB1 replied to Bren's topic in Latest Implement Conversions & Scratch Builds
doesnt quite make me think it's a high-spec, looked more like a TULLOW tanker -
no it didn't happen all in one day wasnt so bad on the more loamy/ sandy soils CP , but on the harder soils where the press didn't make as big impact on the furrows, yes the press would run away , but you soon learn quickly , soon as you reach the brow of the slope , you'd just lift the plough a bit & leave the press behind,& pick it back up again on the next run.

just seen the 8690 in CT magazine , & to keep in line with the emmissions it's fitted with a 370hp engine , & uses SCR technology, i'm not going to retype it all from the magazine , but basicly a liquid called Ad-blu, is injected into the exhaust thus lowering the emisions says here that AD-blu will cost about 40p per litre ! they said that to the road haulage industry when SCR was used with their trucks , but most cant seem to find it for less that 75ppl but it will affect the engine performance if you dont use it , matter of fact , if you run out of blu it feels like the engine has blown it's turbo , quite disturbing when you dont know whats gone wrong , , but is ad blu all it's cracked up to be ? mate rob wookey , opperates an 07 reg V8 scania, with SCR tech & he fills the ad-blu tank up with water , & as long as the sensor is picking up liquid to be sprayed into the exhaust , the truck runs fine . but i'm no mechanic , fine for now matbe , but i wouldnt like to bet on if it's going to be ok for the rest of the trucks working life of just ok till it goes bang

some nice gear there mate but all i could see was the leroy sticker , yer eyes are sort of drawn to it

what ? catches ? sprung loaded pins? hydraulic catches ? blimey you lot are spoilt ? when i used to plough with a press there wern't any catches or sping pins , it was drive forward till the press arm hooked up to the press & it would follow along, that was it , nothing to go wrong & it worked perfectly well & had no problem with it also had to carry a chain to tow it back into line or out of the hedges \ or even back off the main road when it had actually gone through the hedge \ or even as in one case from out of the wreckage of an old chaps greenhouse [ as when you ploughed down a slight incline & it would run away on it's own we didn't need telly , we made our own excitement :D
-
got to agree with tristopher here , your builds seem to come together in a ver short space of time with very little fuss & a severe lack of gluey fingerprints & overspray so when you going to get them cast as kits , so's we can all have one just the decals to go top man ....... top job :)
