  1. I had made my mind up to get a Nokia N8. Until Vodafone told me Nokia dont make them anymore!!! After a bit of research and long conversation with the sales people I have gone for a Galaxy s2. Anyone on here got any views on them, good bad or indifferent?? Usualy i would have gone in to the shop and had a play but my trusted, loyal Nokia is not long for this world so time was of the essence!!! Have i done the right thing.......? :-\

love my s2. no regrets here, my friends with iPhone 4/s like it also! it's fast, (better cpu & ram than my first computer!) the screen is brilliant, it's a bit of a riot shield in size but it weighs about as much as an empty crisp packet so you don't notice it. I've also dropped it onto gravel while juggling it and my house keys without breaking the screen. The only disadvantage is that it does so much you will end up being on it more than you intended, and perhaps more than others would like... the present mrs goon hates it!

  2. going to the building site that is loughborough train station straight from work (friday 1645pm) in hi vis (with HARLOWS in big letters on the back) and being verbally abused for the chaos that is ensuing by an angry man confused by the pay and display machine, the car park, and difficult task of catching a train that was supposed to arrive 10 minutes ago.  i happened to be on the phone to the present mrs goon at the time (coincidentally on the train that captain angry was waiting for) he told me i was rude for ignoring him for a phone call of a personal nature. so naturally i smiled , then told him to ""go away" and find someone who actually worked for national rail" in less words.

  3. hi all, bit of a resurrection, but here's what i just did, just rung vodafone for an argument (to cancel current contract) I'd seen a samsung galaxy sII for £30/ month 500 mins 5000 texts 1gb data for 24months, vodafone said if i sent my £28 phone back they'd make the sII free for me too (instead of £200!), then matched threes price plan.

here's the specs, iphone 4 beater, and should match the iphone 5 in august, (dual core y0!) http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/mobile-phones/SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S-2/MONTHLY?src=phoneFinder&tariffNetworks=&clearance=false

    hope this helps....

  4. captain health and safety at work, i knew he was a..."prat". just banned me from wearing my ipod at work, when all i do is sit on my own for 10 hours a day and type, he said i "wouldn't hear the fire alarm", i answered that "i could hear him talking so he might want to invest in a louder fire alarm", he then said "suprised no one else has said anything" and i said "yes it is funny that no one else cares isn't it?"

for those in the know, i would also be intrigued to know if there is a maximum temperature for an office building? as it's about gas mark 7 in here atm.

is it only monday? forgot my lunch, so hot i'm sweating buckets, and now not allowed to listen to my ipod. great start to the week!

  5. phone bill off vodafone. triple what it's supposed to be, their website is so useless it won't let me see how i've spent £30 more than i was meant to, nor have they rung me to upgrade my contract which expires, err well, monday! it annoyed me so much that the biro i was smoking at the time (old habits die hard it seems..) got bitten in half. mouth full of ink. it rhymes with clucking bell. where's aunty Sue and the rude smily selection!!!!  >:(

  6. yesterday: metal working making patch panels for the mini, small angle grinder related fire. kayaking lesson, nearly drowned several times while learning to recover/ escape from upside down boat, but passed the qualification and was allowed to pootle about. which was very nice, but will probably stick to an open top canoe...being trapped upside down in cold water is not my cup of tea.

today: full service on 59 plate range rover autobiography. tdv8. went on a road test, amazing machine. quiet, comfy, gadget filled, rapid for something weighing 3 tonnes.  fell in love. this afternoon i  learned to weld on a broken manhole cover, and my welding was deemed good enough to attack the underside of the mini, very pleased with myself, would rather keep welding than kayaking!

  7. patrick is very cute! i suspect he won't be when he's fully grown...

just to add to the ever knowledgable aunty Sue's point about upbringing being vital in behaviour, in Liverpool my house mate has a staffy cross rottweiler, Roxy. She's lovely, very intelligent, and gentle once she knows who you are, not keen on visitors or squirrels, and i'd hate to be a burglar in our house...but considering she was rescued from a carboard box in a garage belonging to a friend of a friend of a friend of a bloke who ran a dodgy car dealership cat's mother's auntie, as a tiny puppy who was going to train her to be a fighting dog the contrast is night and day to how she could be. her presence at my side  means the scary scousers avoid me when i'm walking about.. i'll see if i can get a picture off my phone!

  8. last night car work, oil change on citroen picasso, (went well until i ended up wearing 5l of used engine oil, still hot.) then hacking rust out of the floor of the mini to get back to bare metal for weldifications... the petrol tank on the mini briefly disappeared, and the fuel tank on the c2 magically became full!

tonight, tidy the house (parents back on friday after 2 weeks of me living home alone, roughly translated as the house is a tip)

then hopefully welding will commence on the mini. tomorrow night, fix citroen c5, more work on the mini, perhaps the pub.
