I'm not sure either, but it looks like it might be for railway tracks, lots of machines have them so they can work on railway lines.

Hi, am just about to have a ago at a 2140 or a 1640. Does any one know what would be the best match for the front 2wd wheels other than the Britains 4020 ones?

That is some truly amazing work! They are so amazingly detailed and well built. You really couldn't have done a better job. A great topic you've made too being able to see the diorama, all the close up details and the drawings. Do you have any plans for future models or are you having a long well deserved break?
