Might have someone with a 5480 cab, will find out for you
-
Got a JCB 550-80 today,
Grand model just a pity about the fixed axles
-
Thanks Bob
Apparently the 298 wasn't the best of the range
290 was supposed to be a far better tractor
Haven't actually seen the 298 with the linkage but might see If I can go round when he's at the grass to see if I can get a few pictures of her in action!

Ah Jack I see it looks and heres me thinking you where getting ready for first cut was going to ask could I come up to you with my MF3085 to cart in along side your mint MF298 A
lot of boys around us are using doublechops as they have no silage and there cutting there silage now but taking it in to feed but thankfully we are like yourselfs we have silage to last us in the end of june but our grass seems to be growing ok but its just to wet to put stock out so we might be cutting more silage this year as the grass might get in front of us and to long for the cows
Sorry to burst your Bubble Bob
The 298 is gone aswell, broke our heart in repairs, couldn't keep a clutch in it and was forever stopping with fuel problems,
Got a good price for it so let it go, clutch didn't last 100 hours last time for whatever reason,
Just never worked when we needed it which was about twice a year to mix slurry and draw grass so we let her go,
A man not far from us then bought it from the dealer and now has a front linkage on it which he puts a buckrake on, this is his second, seems to suit him well due to the duncan Lift off cab
This is what we have now in place of it
Will get a picture of the full fleet when first cut eventually arrives!

Looks proper smart hooked to that fergy Jack
The models are spot on against the real deal!! Very nice Jack.
Looking good Jack have you changed the MF4255 and NH chopper ??
Thanks for the great comments lads,
Thats the plan, to make our our farm equipment in model form over time
Yes Robert we sold the Massey 4255 in the summer of last year, Got the 5440 in place of it
We still have the NH doublechop in the shed incase we ever need it for zero grazing, we've enough silage still to last another couple of weeks but it could be out this year unless it warms up abit and the ground dries,
Unfortunately the harvester isn't on in the picture ready for first cut, that'll be a while yet

I hadn't either and any pictures I had seen were different style cabs
Its a C & G cab made in Dublin
The tractor is out of Scotland Originally and I bought it off my mums Uncle who lives about a mile from me who no longer needs it

Lovely little tractor Jack, hopefully you will keep the cab I think it suits the tractor,
Thanks
Thats the plan, the company that made the cab is still on the go so I'll hopefully will be able to get all the parts I need
Finished first year at uni now so off for summer, so thought it would be a good buy as a summer project
Going to try and do as much of the work myself if I can

Has anyone seen the daylight robbery that Royal Mail are now charging for postage,
For a box of a reasonable size less than 749g it was £2.70 first class
Now its if the box is over 80mm in any direction its gone upto £5.65 regardless of the weight
They must be having a laugh???
-
Those look class Barry!
Very tidy work

Got a phone call from the secretary in the office saying her son had some farm models and was going to be throwing them out, and asked me if I would like them, so I went round to meet said woman, and came back with these, she said I could have then for free, I gave her son £50.
*cough daylight robbery cough
Good buy,
You got a good bargin there! (So many models are thrown out, its such a pity! People don't realise there's weirdos like us out there that actually want them )

Parweld is a nice reasonably priced mask,
On my second now and got good service from the first, the new one has the grind function which is handy,
-
if the tyres that hard you cant get it back on, surely it wouldnt deform shape wise with the ridging removed??? i am guessing they are the tims/ siku tyres like used on the trailer you did recently, if so i have some of those and they are dam hard tyres, infact i couldnt get mine off to paint, hence the mask stuff i bought
It is yeah,
The only problem is there is quite alot of cutting in 120 wheels haha... but needs must,
They seem to have a very hard side wall but I find they go out of shape the other way, but then again there'll be no weight on them
-
Thanks for your help by the way!
-
They are trelleborg pattern trailer wheels,
They have a ridging around them but I removed this off one and feel its required to keep the tyre shape,
I might try luke warm water with lubrication as that might help
-
Thats the problem,
I've Already taken the tyres off the 120 wheels and painted the centres I just am having difficulty refitting the tyres back on again,
-
I've recently got some wheels that I've painted the centres on,
The problem has now arised and I need to refit all the tyres,
I can't warm the tyres as they deform when stretched once heated,
Any help?
All comments much appreciated!
PS I've 120 to do so would be really greatful of tips
