  1. Thanks Luke , try to take all the photos in the layout.lighting can be a pain but hey ho ! Yeah good quality machine , local dealers a plus aswell
  2. With Oakley's 2nd cut of silage now finished off , attention turning back to umbilical work with 1 gang out going over some old cow paddocks and the dung spreaders now venturing out onto some freshly wrapped up silage grounds just in time as the weather turning unsettled for the rest of the week apparently, gonna a be a slacker week so off up to Hawkins agri open day for a few hours tomorrow see if we can strike any deals !!
  3. With all 1st cut silage now all finished attention turning to balding and wrapping , managed to bale & wrap up 300 acres of silage this week , we've got a little twist for the customers this year with some delighting wrap , all in a good cause for the McMillan trust trying to raise some extra funds by wrapping up a few pink bales at each customer's farm promoting the cause ,showing British agriculture support !! Raising a few eyebrows!! Next week cracking on with another 250 acres of round bale haylage & 175 acres of silage , be nice when the grass is wrapped up once and for all on 1st cut !!!!!
  4. Well underway with silage now with the good weather grass being cut everywhere ! We've cleared all of Oakley's grass and have now moved on to some of our own grass , 350 acres to start with then another 300 acres destined for the middle of the week , due to move on to manor farm for 270 acres then to Jacobs for 100 acres then off to Browns for 175 acres , team no 2 with the 580 due up to avishayes for 400 acres and Churchill's for 370 acres then onto 1 of 6 farms for coombe farms , silly time coming around again !!
  5. Silaging just started earlier in the week for Oakley's and by tonight just wrapping up the last few acres all destined for the AD Plant , Both the krones getting dieseled up ready to go ,the majority of silaging will be fully in flow by the start of next week , with 1 little hiccup on the rake earlier in the week the krone 1100 going great guns ! Usual stuff going on back at base with the tankers & umbilical in full swing !
  6. Full speed ahead !!!! Silage trailers look spot on
  7. Nice update Dave , plenty of silage coming the pit !! You got much grass around ?
  8. Eventually catching up on the maize drilling now with the help of Alex's chaps and a total of 3 power harrows and 2 drills , just about 10 days to go weather permitting , With heavy rain overnight all maize operations now halted so attention now turned to getting the mowers ready for 300 acres to cut for Oakley's , the 1st venture into silage this year with a total of 2000 acres booked in already not including baleing, looks like all hands on pump for the next week
  9. After the deludge of rain on weds & Thurs ,spud planting came to an abrubt end , after 2days now of good warm weather we managed to recommence with planting , this morning saw the 1st loads of seed going out & the planter getting underway ,hopefully by Tuesday all planting will be finished just in time for rain forecast on Tuesday night .In the yard plans are underway getting the maize drill & power harrows all ready for maize drilling , Thurs / Fri saw the 724 and sprayer going off down to Oakley's to help Alex out with his much heaped up spraying schedule !
  10. 1st update for a while , with all slurry operations now finished until 1st cut silage is underway , attention now turned to potato planting , yesterday saw the preparations underway with the tiller , ridgers & destoner all making headway over Hinton park with 50 acres due to go in , following on down to Green farm with another 25 acres , hope to start planting sometime today / tomorrow . so far so good when operations closed down for the night last night with the dust settling down as the sun went down ! Gonna be a busy few weeks ahead as getting ready to start maize drilling early next week , after deciding to hang on until ground temperature was at its maximum . just a mere 600 acres of our own to drill , then off to different customers and for the AD Plant ! Should be totaling more than 1700 acres by the time the last seed drops in the ground , not including more potential drilling !! Silage wise we are still around 10 days or so , just waiting on sugar levels to rise for optimum results . looks like we're be pushed on the tractor front so plans are at foot for bidding in some much extra help .
  11. There starting to catch on a little , getting a little more popular , where we are mainly new Holland's and fendts with a few JDS in amongst !
  12. Cheers Graham ,she's 190 HP ,t174e , yeah made sense to go down the robotic route for us , especially with the 8 hr per paddock grazing system we have in place
  13. Give en something to do & a change from riding around in the land rover !!!!
  14. Workshop on overload today , the fleet up to full capacity now as the 6125r the last to go onto rowcrops ready for potato planting , maize drilling and beet drilling in the coming 6 to 8 weeks , the valtras also hitched onto the drilling rig ready for Monday morning and the start of spring drilling up at Avishayes estate then onto purtington farm totaling 215 acres of spring barley , then onto 3 organic customers for Coombe Farm and then back home drilling !
  15. Little update now the weather settled down a bit , 1st jobs of of the week booked in 95 acres of ploughing with the 724 over chard for Churchill's . then off to Madges to turn over another 55 acres .also sent the 818 over with the multidiscs on to crack on in front of the plough and then to follow over recently turned ground to get a bit of air in the soil ,try and dry some of the heavier ground out a bit .then the usual weekly jobs loading the slurry tanker from the dairy ,spreading on recently fed sheep keep grounds ! Let's hope this weather lasts !!
  16. Useful bit of kit in that trailer Dave ,like it !
  17. Rain certainly stopped play in south Somerset over the last 24 hours ! Not too much going on this wknd just a few load of potatoe boxes being brought back from branstons and hauling a few loads of stock potatoes back for the beef cattle . in the workshop our attention starting to think towards spring planting , 1st job on the agenda get the 7430 in for a change to row crops ,this will be swiftly followed by the 724 & 818 preparing for potato planting .machines due in at the start of the week for there prep work , looks like the weather unsettled for the week so workshop and slurry duties top of the list !
  18. No jack , we dnt really need anything reverse drive so it would be a waste of money for our operations
  19. Yeah cowboy getting there bit by bit !!! Not too much more room to expand
  20. A lot more refined inside and out to be honest jack , certainly an improvement
  21. Looking good Dave , any more new arrivals on the horizon ?
