  1. All you need now is the 'lying cow' for the trailer, the Friesian with the hole in the bottom to fit over the peg. You'll have to look out for one a a toy fair, I've found several over time.
  2. All the dealers around me are pretty poor in the stocking of models and those that they do have have been in stock long enough for the boxes to have been bleached by the sun in the window or so thick in dust you can't see what they are. Saying that though, Saunders at Whiddon Down do have in current models in dealer boxes and these are the 1:32 and 1:16 UH MF models as the UH rep regularly calls on them. They do stock a small amount of Siku MF as well. Masons of Chudleigh, or more precise Kingsteighnton, always used to have a large range of JD models including SpecCast, Ertl precision and others but they were always very expensive. I haven't been there for a few years now but a mate of mine thats a fitter for them tells me they don't carry so much stuff now.
  3. Saunders at Whiddon down are the local MF dealers, or they are to me. Got up early this morning and picked the peas out in the garden before the rain came in. Picked off 49lb and took them out to the local veg shop. Worth growing when you can sell them to a shop for a pound a pound.
  4. Another down side. the first ones that came out, the JD and the Fendt could be controlled from one handset. Up to 4 tractors could be controlled on one handset as each tractor has a 4 position switch on the bottom and the handsets had 4 buttons, one for each tractor. But now apparently, with the Axion, each tractor from this model, can only be opperated from its own handset. Is this right as I have not taken the Axion out of its box to look?
  5. A nice little book titled 'The Legendary LTX Tractor. The Big "Fergie" Story'. A book that tells the story of the 'Ferguson 60' by Erik Fredriksen printed in January 2000. From eBay, Japonica Press book. Have you got a copy Marky?
  6. I did see somewhere that Spec Cast do an American version MF65 with front loader in 1:16.
  7. There is a topic for these tractors but a lot of the newsagents and magazine stockists like W.H. Smiths stopped doing them some time ago as there were so many complaints of damaged packaging people just were not buying them.
  8. This seems to be the general concensus for the majority of these big shows nowadays, not just isolsted to the Royal. There seems to be a vast shift away from what these shows initially set out to do, showcase the area and what it offered and produced for the area in food and farming which was the mainstay of the area. These days the shows seem to concentrate more on retailers of a more urban society than the rural society and has become more of a glorified retail park and the amount of rubbish is degrading the shows to no more than a 3 day car boot sale. The Devon County Show has leant in the same direction for many years now with the farming aspect dwindling to a minority showcase with only around 3 tractor and machinery dealers attending and more stands now concentrating on the yuppy types and the country whaa whaa's with asking prices for their products and services way above the heads of the people that they are supposed to be showcasing to. Animals at the shows have also dwindled due to red tape and farms no longer in business and mor animals of the rare breeds and exotic types that to the local economy are absolutely useless. The best shows to go to nowadays are the small town shows and village shows. The organizers have a lot to answer for, they have got too greedy charging thousands of pounds for a pitch now whereas years ago it was hundreds.
  9. Bit excessive on prices I would say, certainly for down this way. The JD Transit listed is expensive as you can still pick them up in some shops and JD dealers for around a tenner.
  10. Lovely day out yet again despite the sharp shower that Sean mentioned. Several new additions to look over plus some that had been brought in for the day such as the very impressive 1505 and 165 that came up from Cornwall. Absoluteley heaving with people just after mid-day, even detected some foreign accents. Food was good and very good price as well. Ice cream van did a roaring trade and he was charging reasonable as well. Farmer Ed with his models did very well and Colin Perryman with his tractor parts was run off his feet. Nice to see you there again Sean and Mark and for those that did not or could not go, book next year now while its still fresh in the mind.
  11. Farmer Ed was at Mike Thorne's open day today with his very large trailer and loaded with goodies. Decided to come home with the UH Ford 5000 in 1:32 plus the 3 new McCormick tractors from UH, the MTX145 double wheeled. MC105 and the MC130 T3. All the McCormicks are in McCormick boxes. Bought a few real tractor bits from Colin Perryman for D.B.tractors and some nice tractor emblem badges from a chap in the bottom shed.
  12. I'll be there for a couple of hours or so. Yes marky, leave home early before the sun gets up too high. Forecast is hot tomorrow and if the tar is soft and sticky it'll slow you down a bit!
  13. If you want the old type conventional bale type of sqeezer/loader like the McConnell 'bale slave' or the Lawrence Edwards 'Perry Loader' from the 1960's and 70's, there are some pictures of these in a topic titled 'bale loaders' from about 18 months back.
  14. Now, that is quite smart. Back in the days when the Councils actually did something!
  15. There is no release date or price stated for the 590 as yet.
  16. Tim Toys, now no longer, was to Siku what 'Little Toy Farmer' was to Britains.
  17. When you say 'replacing on older Britains models' I presume you mean the window in the box. It's dead easy and with practice you'll soon get used to doing it blindfold. If you refer to my earlier posts and follow the tips you won't go wrong. Another thing you can do whilst the box is 'open' or opened flat to replace the cellophane, if there are any tears in the box, most being in the area of the end flaps, you can close these tears by cutting a strip of thin card and glue over the tear on the inside to cover it. If you want to go even further and cover wear marks on the outside of the box where the colouring has flaked through rubbing or flaking from creasing you can cover these marks to a certain extent by using kiddies wax crayon on the shiny finished boxes and matching the colour and on the non-shiny or semi-shiny earlier boxes you can use the pencil type colouring pencils. You may have to go over the marks several times to get an effective cover. On the tuck-in flaps on the box end flaps, the edges very often fray. The card is made up of several thin layers and these layers seperate, if you use something like a very thin sliver of wood or even better something like a very thin screwdriver and very lightly smear s little UHU type glue between each of the layers one at a time, you can stick it all down again and effect a good repair. I have brought back many a tired box from the brink of extinction repairing them like this.
  18. Bought un-boxed, from a collection, re-boxed by G&M originals and sold (or some were) on the internet. When Mr Originals reads this he will give you a more definitive answer and more details. Edited post. Just gone through something else and this is how these models stack up. Purchased from the maker of the Britains 'vintage series' tractor castings that were basically 'leftovers' without their plinth, the rest is above.
  19. Really good site and some very nice kit. Looking forward to additions. Very well done. Will certainly bookmark this one.
  20. One of those plastic village hall chairs. I had a tractor with exact same 'modification'
  21. The Chrystal furthest away looks like its had the windscreen broken, that wasn't done the day before otherwise all the remaining glass would be gone. Looks like it smashed at the rally or on the way to. Brilliant pictures!! The little MF was at Mike Thorns open day last year, the chap only finished it the day before, even smelt new in the cab. Probably be there this year too. Chap that built it is local.
  22. Production ones only produced in yellow but there are two different sets of decalling.
  23. Just taken delivery of this. I will do a reveiw of this model to post up.
  24. Started raining steady here around 9.30am and has eased off now but between we've had 32mm according to my raingague.
