MJB1 Posted October 25, 2009 Share Posted October 25, 2009 yes spud,i heard that from 1394 owners,the 1490 and 1494 were notorious for dropping valves..a neighbour who had a case-ih1594 said it was a fairly gutless tractor,it was 2wd and traction was very poor,there was a 1690 4wd here at a time and it seemed a good traction machine but the owners didnt keep it long,changing to a case ih 956,twice the tractor........ wasn't the valves that was the problem on the 1690,1594,1694 it was usually oil pump failure if you ever buy a real one thats the first thing to get sorted !
