first the tractor unit can be used as a normal tractor unit.

or you can fit a flat bed platform onto the tractor unit for the transport of goods or machinery,

good idea , seen a few articles on this system in truck magazines , even seen one system , that has different attatchments  for a 4x2 unit, consisting of flatbed + trailer , a cement mixer with it's own axle, making it a 6x2 to carry the weight  & also become a recovery outfit .

There's a tarmac contractor in Waterford has one on a Scania. He has a small insulated tipping body for the asphalt and tows a drawbar low loader behind it for the plant. For big jobs he drops the Jak-a-box and uses a normal fifth wheel tipper for the asphalt. Will get a photo.

Seen a similar unit here to Stan, pulls a tarmac lifter on the lowloader and then he can run ballast in behind it with the artic aggregate trailer when the lifting is done. They are one of those things that some people find a use for but by and large don't really see the full light of day what with the evolution of the hookloader etc.
