nashmach
Finally have gotten my photos sorted from Monday. Dad and I went over to the Cambridge Machinery Sales last Monday flying from Waterford to Luton and then hiring a car. It was sleet/snow most of the day so was absolutely freezing so the photos are limited but here are a selection. I have a list of prices that I will post tonight. Picture of the first field showing the newer tractors for sale. The JD 7710 was not the cleanest to be honest. Another image of the same field showing a few nice Ford's/NH's and an immaculate MF 690. Also can see the machinery sale in the background. And the second field showing a lot of the scrap tractors that were for sale: One for James F - Valmet 6800 I think A line up of Sands Sprayers out in the car park:

nashmach
was there no big fiats or deutz at it was it worth going over to it . nice pictures that irish lambo had a hard life by the look of it Only Fiat's can be seen in the background of the Lambo 165 picture. A F110, a few 80 series and 2/3 90 series. Only Deutz's were a 3.65 and a very rough 4.50 and a few Agroton's. Definetly worth going over to - was a great experience especially as over 400 tractors there. Would consider going over once a year at least in future. James, it is actually a French tractor with a French cab.

archbarch
thanks for posting, i havent been for a while. Interesting day out but to buy anything its either too dear or has been dumped there by the dealer. Some of the kit spends years there as a result. ploughmaster
Quite a few interesting machines there, and some good pics. I seem to think the Ford 7400 came about as a result of a peculiar French aversion to turbochargers. The 4 cyl turboed Ford 7000 and the later 7600 were most unpopular with French farmers of the time, and Ford came up with this 6 cylinder alternative especially for the French market. The rest of us didn't get a 6 cylinder alternative to the 7600/7700 until the 7910 was launched.

ploughmaster
I had forgotten the 8100 . The 7400 did pre-date it though, and was built by EVA in Belgium using a 6600 back end mated to a 6 cyl Ford 2714E 'Dorset' truck engine (with a cast hull to support it), and was only marketed in France as a slightly more powerful non-turbo alternative to the 7600. The 8100 was later developed from the 7400, using the same engine (for France at least)) but with steel side rails to maintain rigidity and with the power increased for other European markets (they had the 2715E engine) to 115 BS hp (which would be about 110 DIN hp) and mated to a 6700 back end. It was launched in July 1978 at the National Grassland demo (obviously aimed at powering forage harvesters!). At that power, the 8100 was the next model up rather than an alternative to the 7600. It was soon replaced by the 8200 and ultimately the 8210, at which point we had the 7910 introduced at the same power as the 7610/7710 at 103 BS hp (or 98 DIN hp). leylandboy
Afraid not Aaron - high prices there last Monday My Uncle goes to cheffins sales quite alot and says alot of the stuff makes daft money
Fendthead
Yer been there a few times, and things go for crazy money! I wanted a 6x6 chain harrow to go behind my compact. There was a new one there, unrolled on the ground ...in the mud (always the mud) It went for more than I could buy the very same one brand new from my local dealer, and they still had to put buyers premium on that price as well .I think a lot of the stuff heads over the water, also a dealers will pay more if they know that they have a buyer, were as others like me... want a cheep bargan, as with tractors etc you real don't know what you are letting yourself in for. leylandboy
What really annoys me with these sales is, the auctioneers write the number of the tractor on the bonnet of the tractor. For example a while ago my uncle bought a expensive tractor which the auctioneers knew it was going to be an expensive one, so they stuck a sticker to the bonnet of the tractor and now theres still a mark left there.
