roberthenning
Started into this one today to go with my original 2140, had a spare 3 hours, most of the cutting and fiddling done now, just a bit of filing and all the fiddly bits to make up for it. Also not sure wether to use the powerstar engine or the cast one on the original casting. Ill badge it 2650 or 2040xe, ill probably put a quickie/jd loader on it too. Will also be making another 2850 with front linkage as ive a plan for a hardi sprayer combo

Jdeere6910
Sounds like another great 50 series model. looking forward to seeing this one. Whats the blue running gear from?
roberthenning
Its from an imber 6640, i bought it for the cab to put on a 8560 and thought id use the chassis for either a jd or 8011 but the jd won the battle

roberthenning
A bit more done, i usually only spend an hour or two at a time on them as i find concrentration starts to go. Deere in primer now, hopefully get green paint tomorrow on way to belfast for work.

Tractorman810
clever idea that using the imber chassis, same route(different chassis mind) as i am using for the 2140, lot easier i thought and easy to add to a base chassis than cut shut and weaken a ertl one
roberthenning
Yes it was yours that gave me the idea and motivation to take at it. The imbers perfect as the saves buying wheels or 2wd axels too, and even the side bonnet vents are perfect size. Getting it to this stage has take about 4-5 hours against at least 15-16 hours cutting and footering at the ertl on the 2140 i did, and this is turning out to be a much more accurate model. Tractorman810
will you change the link arms to then??? had a look at a scrap imber i have and recon it would be easy enough to add proper arms to it
roberthenning
Im not really sure what ill do with that end yet, it'll probably go on a mounted implement so ill keep them as i find most of my tractors with proper linkages just end up on trailers as its so difficult to get mounted stuff that fits properly

roberthenning
The 2650 is not supporting narrower tyres and rims of a mccormick mxc something or other and the 2140 has the fatter imber tyres on the back. Also coupled up to a hardy sprayer, ill get better photos up when ive the decals on to show the colours better, not overly happy with the coulour match on the tank
Tractorman810
looking good mate, the sprayer tucks in well to the arches on that rear linkage to, have you modifyed the sparayer or linkage to get it that close and right looking?? roberthenning
Didnt do any modifying, just got lucky really, its a dave twose tank on the old britains sprayer platform and guess its just slightly bigger tank makes it all sit so well, still need to make up some sprayer controls and decals for it yet, was initially going to be put on the 6410 with a front mount, but think its better on the little tractor although badly needs some front weights now!! Tractorman810
i guess daves tanks are bigger so close the gap?? mmm may have to try that with some scrap bits i have as it looks spot on with the jd
roberthenning
Yeah i think thats why, it all fitted together perfectly, just had to drill a few holes in bottom of tank to allow it to sit on the frame. Its actually a very tight squeeze to get it fitted on as the tanks hitting the mudguards when hitching up. Im still not overly happy with the shade of yellow on the tank yet, maybe third time lucky getting the right shade
