Wooden Trailers

Blue man

Question

I was just wondering if anyone on here would be interested in some classic wooden trailers if I built them, Here are a pair of 15Ft Murphy Silage Trailers I have built (Unfinished). I could build Grain and General Purpose trailers .

Something you don't see people doing, John and there could be a bit of mileage in them too with the ever growing number of classic tractors that are readily available to make up some great silage outfits 8) Maybe build a couple and post them up as you build them?? ::) You might get a people interested as they see your trailers get built up ;)

Not a type of trailer I can recap seeing before . I asume by the name it's an Irish brand ? Certainly looks a nice build

Yeah based on A Murphy Silage trailer but the vast majority of old school in Ireland were wooden with similar designs and paints, the staple of 1970/80 and 90s contractors in my part of the world ;)

Certainly looks a nice build

I have to agree.... Nice build John you done a good job on the ones in the pics  ;)Though over here the normal dropside general purpose trailers were the norm with angle iron framework and corrugated tin and mesh or plywood clad silage tops fitted, still the odd one about too if you look in the right places ;) Would be nice to see more of your handiwork 8)

Look very like the lee ones you see built over that way , did they use commercial truck axels for them as they all seem to have twin rear look wheels on them

Yeah alot would have been on lorry axles but some of the older ones would just have been cut down lorry trailers !
