anybody have any tips on what I could use for silage for in a trailer I have attached a pic from what I found of ebay

Lawn clippings dried in the oven.Saw it at a model show & looked quite realistic.

Loose Static Grass is the most effective that I have seen, particularly for grass silage. 

For maize I'd suggest some fine sawdust mixed with a small amount of green poster paint would be more to scale than in the photo you've shared. http://miniatureprojects.weebly.com/25mm-scale-terrain/diy-flock-from-sawdust
