civilpek
blimey hes made a mess of that, surely it cant be worth rebuilding that can it, must be cheaper to buy a second hand tractor ,the parts and labour would be extreem to say the least ud be very surprised its actually going to work out that they will be getting one very cheap tractor. despite how bad it looks most of the main parts are undamaged, the worst part is the broken casting but as i said they already have an identical casting sitting in the yard from a previous accident, it will need new windows and stuff, and 1 new computer in the back which will turn out to be some of the more expensive items. the insurance company originally sold the baler and the tractor for $10,000 but my boss missedd out on the tender, he contacted the other fella who won it and arranged a new deal for the tractor, that basically went along the lines that the first guy got a free baler
civilpek
well up date on the tractor, dont really have any pictures of it yet will do my best to take some tomorrow. anyway we basically work on it between other jobs. the first bit after we collected it, involved removing the broken casting and basically rebuilding the transmission which was pretty well damaged, we finally got around to do a bit on it again today and now have the whole chassi put back together again. she is sitting in the shed intact so to speak minus the rims, cab, bonnet etc. tomorrow well star plumbing up her hose lines again so by thursaday we will be lifting the cab just above her mounts so the guys with the know how and patience can do all the electrical work. there is also some guy coming to do a bit of plastic wielding on the cab roof, and there will have to be a few new panels got as the guy gave his head some wallop and broke a load of stuff. incidently all the blood has now been cleaned up o ya ud be surprised to see how soft the actual casting is, we had to make one bolt hole bigger by drilling because the old casting was slightly different from the newer version and it was like a hot knife cutting through butter. it basically only has a bit of strength in the horizontal direction so hitting it from the side will defidently not do it any favours. added to the weak metal is the fact that there is a load of large inspection areas on the sides to allow you to get at her clutches without splitting the tractor so that doesnt help in making it any stronger. anyway il try a nd get a few picture tomorrow so ye can see for yourself
