The fact is that before roll bars too many tractor drivers were killed by rolling tractors.  I remember one on a farm down the road from where I lived.  I appreciate that without being belted in the driver can be thrown into danger, but it must be safer.

ifyou are the owner of ?the tractor & it is for your own personal use (not for contracting or for hire )then it's not a requirement ,but if other people are at any time going to drive it then it must have a roll bar else the insurance is void .if ?the person using the tractor (not the owner) he must drive it at his own risk, if he had an accident ,his insurance will not cover him either. this actually happened to a chap a few miles away when he borrowed his neighbours tractor & broke his back when a bale on the trailer he was towing fell onto him
