    My working week

Nice to see the old JCB's. We had one exactally the same as that but in slightly better condition ha ha! It required a certain degree of skill and bravery to drive it, to keep her going straight you had to constantly move the steerling wheel left to right and my favourite bit was the brakes, one you used them you had to go in the opposite direction to release them. Was never a dull moment in that thing. cheers Noel
  2. I've been to Cooley, nearly every year since i was no height!!! Its excellent and definately worth a day out!!! Would it not be a good venue for some of the Farm Toys sellers to attend? The next model show im aware of is in November would be nice to see/buy some models/conversations at Cooley. Noel

  6. was planning for a nice quiet day, but saw my mum and aunt strugglying at pruning a tree. So i went and took the chainsaw to it. Got a bit carried away as i normally do with the chainsaw and lets say there is about a 5 inch stump left out of a 20ft tree ha ha! no problem looking after it now. Noel

  13. very impressive looking setup. I wonder what acerage they would cover per hour! I remember we had a bad winter a good few years ago and couldn't take the tanker into the fields, so we got some fellas in with the umbilical cord system, if i can remember correctly they were charging over ?100 per hour back then!!! not cheap, would need to make sure you have them in BIG fields to make it cost effective!!! thanks for putting pics up Noel
  14. excellent shed. If you dont mind me asking, what did you make the roof from? Im VERY interested in making my own Farm Layout and need any advice. thanks Noel
  15. i've just picked up this thread and you seem to be doing quite well on the Farm. I started by milking Dairy cows when i was about 13/14 (25 now) loved it, got to know most of the cows, though i was always more interested in the machinery, slowly but surely i got to master each one. The farmer i worked for had Fiats. Started off in the 88-94 and was the newest tractor on the farm. Allways wanted to drive the BIGGER 180-90 fiat and one day out of the blue i got asked to spread slurry using it and a 1500 Gallon Star tanker with sluddigator. Can remember it to this day. To cut a long story short, the farmer is building you up to the bigger machinery. Its a lot of responsibility!!! Believe me i have got myself into some very sticky situations and its beacuse of my experience i managed to get myself out of them. Unfortunately im no longer working on the farm as the farmer in question sold up, but i do help him out in the summer when hes bailing etc for horsie people ha ha! Best job i ever had!!! Enjoy it while it lasts!!!!!! Noel

  19. first off all i apologise if this is in the wrong forum. Im planning on building a Model Farm, particulary a silage setup, with a open clamp, a few implement sheds and a field or 2. I have drew a good few layout plans but have scrapped them all. I don't know a good size of board to start off with as im limited to space. Biggest would be 6x6. Does anyone have any suggestions on layouts or photos that i could take a bit of imspiration from. Where would be the best place to get grass like carpet for the fields? thanks Noel
  20. please excuse this silly question. Im planning on going to this show and would like a bit more info. Who's attending, will there be a chance to buy scratch built implements and sheds there? any pics of last year's show (if there was one) thanks Noel

god, Greenmount still doing that safe tractor driving course. I remember doing it a good few years ago (9 or 10), at the time they were using case's a few 5140's and cannot remember the smaller models. 2 Days of fun though and learnt a bit. Well worth doing. Noel

    at the slurry

very nice!! slurry seems to be going on a bit on the heavy side? this was one of my favourite jobs on the farm. Remember doing it in frosty mornings, up from 5:30 and spreading right through the day if ground conditions were ok. Noel
  24. thanks for your kind welcome! I've sent martin a PM many thanks Noel
