Having a good walk around the farm and seeing loads of the birds and mammals that are supposedly on the 'endangered' list.

Yup! They're just a shade smaller than UH wheels but look OK.

Spent what seems like the whole day loading wagons with barley, and more tomorrow.

would they like to sell them to me ;D id convert the lot they would make nice barn conversions
Conversions are way over the top up here and now you'd hardly get planning permission for one. Also the road is not suitable for more traffic as the farm next door is now about 12 houses...
Lovely looking barns John, are they old estate buildings?
Not really Jase, just typical of this area - I think every farm tried to be different.
Im actually doing up old farm buildings like this with my father at the moment, posted pictures up here somewhere before. its very interesting work really especially looking at how they were built and taking into account the fact that they are still virtually 100% structuraly sound, alot to be said for breadable building. sadly though alot of the sheds etc in our yard will be knocked to make way for "progress" :'(
They are sound and the roof timbers are something else...but the landlord is letting them go a bit.....pointing, gutters missing slates etc.

Quite a big plough to have no depth wheel.....

I bet your's was mint though John
Wasn't actually, pretty much the whole machine wore out within a few years and it was a nightmare to keep going....
-
One or two of them up here too Gav, but they haven't started yet.

Good pics, Gav. He certainly has plenty choice in the morning....

Whole day doing accounts, invoices and VAT, so I'm thoroughly fed up now....maybe this should be in 'what really annoyed you today'.

Firstly... thanks all for the advice... this is just what I need...
John... Jason... the maxium weight quoted in the book for drawbar "in" - (bearing in mind I am using an autohitch)... is quoted at ...
1000kgf OR 2205lbf
Is that just 1T then.... whats kgf mean
kilogram force....still equals 1t. I reckon that trailer would be way over Fanny's axle limit even if only half full.
I think auto trailer brakes are legal requirement if over 3t (?)
If you were building your own tank, you could maybe slope the base to the rear so that sludge build of was greatest there....only thing is, how're you going to open the tank to tip it?
Probably numptyable, but would a little slurry tanker convert to the job?
-
Shame to see her go, but ours went in the 70s....so at least she lasted longer than that
-
The dump trailer looks the better build, but is that 3t empty? Even if you only have 3t starch in it, that's 6t...and probably 2+ t on drawbar. Front weights? Might be worth a check in Fanny's book!
The other thing I would be concerned about would be if the starch 'stuck', it may lift rear of tractor off the ground if tipped to full height.
The 'tank' on the flatbed would add a bit of weight (and cost) before you start, but you then have a versatile trailer for other purposes.
Personally it sounds as if dump would be best, but overall weights would be my concern.
Sorry to sound negative....
