I have managed to find a few pics of my old Nuffield M3 this afternoon, I have a load more somewhere that I will post as soon as I find them. It was bought for a very small amount in the early 80's when i was about 4 years old to be restored when I was old enough to help. It was found in the 4 wheel configuration but after looking at the model number it should have been a 3 so we spent a few years trying to find the centre wheel assembly which my uncle found on a scrap heap with nothing wrong but a bearing failure. Then started the painstaking job of cleaning up the body work and rebuilding the engine, sourcing original parts when ever we could, the spark plugs being a difficult one and costing ?16 each. Work was started in 1993 but then due to time issues had to stop and it recommenced in 1996/7 being finished the night before it's first outing in the september of that year and 3 weeks before my Father was diagnosed with Cancer, we often say he knew deepdown somehow what the future held so this is why we done it then. I have all the receipts for work done on this along with an original workshop manual, the tractor has since been sold due to space issues which I do regret but there was no other way :'(
As found, only with the Winsam cab removed, I even looked young then
Engine back in, partly rebuilt/resprayed (loads more pics before and after this stage somewhere)
Finished and at it's first outing, more pics will come when I find them

It's impossible to eat tea unless it is just the dry tea leaves...Tea is a BEVERAGE, not a FOOD.
Who's the numpty now :D
You are!! :D
I seem to remember saying to you on msn before that I was off to eat my tea so you should have known :D

Damn good job they do too, I used to cut an acre of grass with one of them up till a few years ago, had to be dry though or the chute would bung up. It didn't matter what was in the grass in the way of sticks or stones as it would munch through them as well, took a liking to my mates Dad's baseball cap as well :D Well worth the ?25 it cost me

What's a PA2 test Pingu

Looking very good there PR
Working width depends on what model you like to call it. It could be a WM20 which was 5 foot 6 inch cut or if a WM22 would be 6 foot cut, that's why I did'nt put any number on it.
I suppose that it would not be difficult to make a seperate conditioner to fit to it and make it removable, would be an idea to do as it would only really mean building basically a box to hinge to the back of the hood and underneath making up a sort of tube with spikes for the crimping bit but to get it right I would need a picture of one which I don't have at present, would have two machines in one then, just a thought.
Are these of any help to you I know it's the newer Corto model but may still help

Guys can we keep to the question what Nathan asked please, that being the price which you would expect to pay for parts taken off a Cougar or Tecnoma
If anyone wants bits off a Cougar or Tecnoma sprayer, post an advert in the wanted section

what do i win then gav a free sprayer convo o well maybe not

We don't use row-crop duals over here but they look like a nice pair of machines you have there now mate...... :)
Yes we do Martin, usually for drilling sugar beet or harvesting them. I've posted pics of our 7840 on dual row crops drilling sugarbeet here

bit thirsty eh wheres the tm then \ that would of pulled it \
The TM is sitting in the barn on one of the Welger balers. We wanted to use a tractor with a light footprint as we didn't want to leave wheelings in the field. The TS-A already had duals on it and is lighter than the TM so got the job
-
Ah right got you mate......Cheers for the info......
Pretty nasty on the old diesel tank though eh...... :o
Too right, even the boss was shocked at that sort of fuel consumption.....yet they say that Tier II/III are supposed to be better on the emissions \
-
Lovely Gav......
Must be blooming light ground if she's managing that without even being a chipped TS-A...... :o
Exactly the opposite in fact Mart, it's fairly heavy soil on quite a chunk of that field.....you may notice that the legs aren't in the ground though, did try it with them in 4-6 inches and it did pull it at 3mph. When it hit a patch of loose soil the tractor buried itself though as it wasn't heavy enough for the job. It's just so dry and hard on there that we could get away with a tractor that size, mind you it did drink 3/4 of a tank of diesel in the 5.5 hrs it took to do the 22 acres \

The going rate for Cougar wheels is around ?6 a pair including postage if thats any help to you Nathan
-
Well today it was decided that it is getting on so the hemp needed drilling...... into the field metioned elsewhere with no moisture in the top 6 inches My boss had a cunning plan to get the moist soil on top though, I was dispatched with the Simba Solo to disc it deep enough to do the job and it has worked well and should be drilled by this time tomorrow and rolled in all being well. Got a couple of pics on my phone today of the tractor and Solo.......
Ever seen a bog standard TS-A 135 pulling a Solo 330 :o :o

I reckon you are right there Gav... I will be keeping an eye on the "common faults" that arrise on these babys... They still have that STUPID STUPID DANGEROUS overrun thing built in when throttling off to change gear... it's supposed to be kinder on the transmition power train.. but it's bloody annoying if you ask me
Whats that? Don't have that on a 300tdi

Well take this as an order for one then Mr Gavvers... I'll take an MF37 please... and a 137... and a 23 *
I can mail you plenty of pics Gavvers :P :P

Oops... Spamming
Scrub that... cancel my order...
Gavvers... PM'd you :D
What you mean is you'll send me plenty of pics from the leaflets that I sold to you in the first place and then ask for a discount :D
-
You finally got to have a play with one then Marky :D Think I may have to go and have a look at one myself at my dealers, not that I can afford to upgrade my one at the minute. Like you say I think i'll give it a good couple of years before I think about getting one of these new ones as well, skip the td5 and jump to these ones, should be a few more about then

The 60 series in general were excellent tractors if they were well maintained, as I was telling John at Spalding we bought an 8560 with a dubious record where I used to work and got rid of it after 2 months as it suffered with mechanical faults, manifold bolts cracking off and oil leaks, however the one replaced it with was no trouble in its 6000hrs it done with us apart from an electrical fault caused by the alternator just after we got it, already having clocked 2000hrs. The next 6000 went by with just routine things you would expect on a 7 year old tractor in daily use such as hub seals. But locally to me I have not heard of anyone suffering from a bad 8360, just seemed the 8560 could be a troublesome model so as this topic concerns an 8360 I'll agree with all the positive comments about them

We're looking at 10-14 days before we make our first cut of haylage here, grass is just starting to get seed heads on it
1948 Nuffield M3
in Tractors
Posted
It was John, especially as it was the last thing myself and my late father done together before he died, I think if I ever came across it in years to come and had the money I would buy it back. I'd love to know where it was at the moment though as I know the person who bought it off me sold it on again \
Now here's some more pictures of her during the rebuild
The back end and chassis all stripped down awaiting wire brushing/sand blasting before priming
Chassis rails removed to allow for better inspection of back end and easier painting of underneath
Backend/chassis rails back together and primed
From the front
Back end view showing the hydraulics
Engine temporarily in for part fitting, chassis rails and backend painted Nuffield Orange
Engine out and painted, Morris Commercial TVO engine
First day out and running under its own steam for over 30-40 years, myself and my late Father with it (brings a lump to my throat :'( )
All finished-Front view

Rear/side
