  1. Next up are my Silage photo's which was about 100 acres this year and was done in 4 stages, starting on the 6th June and finnishing on about the 20th July, which as a whole went well with very few troubles. Firstly a few of my mowing photos...... And then some Tedding and Spreading photos........ Next up are a few of my baling shots, which towards the end became rather hard going, as I had been quite ill for a few weeks, so had to call in our contractor to help clear up the last 30 odd acres with me...... And finally a select few of the carting of the nearly 1000 bales, firstly with my new rig.........
  2. Thought I had better update this thread after way too long of not finding the time for FTF. Some of the photo's are quite old now, but quite a variation in jobs I feel and I shall try and keep it brief. ;) Firstly, breaking up some winter ploughing for maize back in April..... Next up are a few of my photo's of the annual muck campaign in May and June, this time with the aid of a hired wooten dump trailer, where I was taking over the road to a heap in the field, to spread at a later date when required......
  3. Get that bloomin hedger out at the least....can't bare having staff about the yard.
  4. Do you just want it for the colour then, as red oxide is a rust prevention method for metals. If so, as the others say.
  5. I believe that Nantwich is now the largest Simon, may be wrong. I am planning to drive across in the morning for tommorow afternoon/evening and camp then a whole day there on thursday. Well that's the plan at least. ;)

    Silage in somerset

Nice pictures buddy, you can almost smell it. ;)
  7. Hmm doesn't suprise me and the royal Welsh is the show to go to. Still think I might pop over tommorow afternoon and stay on for the party. ;)
  8. To include Annie Mac? Because on saturday, she was broadcasting live on Radio 1, where she said she was about to be run over by a green tractor and trailer, right at the start of the show. Not you I hope.
  9. Tell me about it! Missed my school lessons for it aswell, so don't have to go in until Friday......let silage continue. Very pleased though, as I only had 4 lessons in 5 weeks. ;)

    CB Help

Well that's the idea. Yeah a Dowdy would be nice and the plan is to put a Quickie on the 5130 and sell the 885LP.
  11. Mowing yet more silage. Covered about 35 acres with the Krone, so not bad going. Didn't want to get too carried away with the dodgey weather and school timetabling for rolling it up next week. ;)

    JD 6930

Or any make of tractor coming to that, going by a brochure in last weeks Farmers Weekely.
  13. Nope, just involves ordering a loader.
  14. Very interesting. What sort of money did that set you back then, as I've been 'um'ing and ar'ing' on chopping our Case 885 in for one for a while now, but have gone up a different route. \

    CB Help

Well to put it simply we're having a restructure with the herd, as we're fattening less and less and selling more steers and heifers as stores, so we can up our breeding cow numbers, but they're is less of a demand for keep and silage. So the plan is to become more self sufficient in food and straw for the cattle, so we're going to plough up about 75 acres to start with. So after receiving some ridiculous quotes from contractors who just said 'we farm it and you take the payment'. So we have decided to buy a newer and bigger tractor and plough and do it ourselves, so Dad has given in and has agreed to buy me whatever we need. Have chosen to go with a full spec Case MX135. ;) As for money per rig, new your looking up to £80, used on eBay up to £50 all in. That would be superb if you could Marky. Hmm thanks for the advice Tris will get on eBay. As for fixing, I have been advised to put the aerials on the mirrors, which do look well I must say. ;)

    CB Help

Ah ok I get it thanks Simon and do you want to sel yours? As for needing more than one to talk to someone I guessed that, but it's more for when I do man and driver for a local straw gang or when we're combining as the Lexion ad one in it when we bought it 3 seasons ago. ;)

    CB Help

Ah thanks for the help lads. Have bid on a few used ones on ebay to get started and I shall see how it goes. Would ne nice to get all of the tractors and trucks on the same system I must say......could potentially save a lot in phone bills. One question though, on average what sort of range can you achieve?
  19. Bit of a tangent, but what's the competiion like in the cattle classes there then? \

    CB Help

Really don't know that much about CB's but have been advised to get one when I go on with the straw gang as and when the straw job starts, when the new tractor is bought. What do I need and which recievers are any good? Also can you get portable ones to have between the car and the tractor. Any help will be much appreciated. ;)
  21. Yes they fit on a Farmmaster with a bit of cutting to the lower steps.
