  1. nearly the end of the week and all sorts of jobs starting to get backlogged due to the weather , with only 85 acres of wheat drilled so far and not much more being drilled for at least a couple of days looks like were be drilling for longer than first thought , as for the maize we"ve hardly done anything worth talking about and as for ground conditions looks like we might need a tank before long , at least we can get some umbilical moving on some of the drier grounds ,well at least we can look forward to having a working lunch on sunday with alex from Oakley farms and stew Elliott contracting to discuss our proposed digester plans !
  2. having some new tyres fitted to the 818 as shes due out for a lot of dung spreading and ground conditions getting worst , also don't wanna give the boys in blue a excuse to pull us in as were up and down the main roads a fair bit , as to the cultivators our mounted ones aren't vaderstad ones the only one we had was a trailed one and hes been part exed out
  3. what a cracking day weather wise ! so much for the odd heavy shower !! just hitched the 3 metre drill up and set of front discs first thing this morning tootled off down to the first 20 acres to drill , managed to drill 8 acres or so and then it heaved it down , so had to turn back to the yard , not much better maize wise today 11 acres blown then had to pull out , so the gang decided to pull back to the yard as not looking too good for next couple of days , least we can keep an eye on the machines back at home , hopefully end of week will see some improvement !!! looks like a couple days in the office !
  4. last bits of the roof gone on the new shed ,looks impressive and loads more room , today didn't start too well with the forager picking up a puncture in the first hour ,with that sorted out we were off again and now weve only got around 350 acres of customers maize left , also back at orchard busy on drilling wheat and the seed gradually decreasing from the shed ,
  5. with the showers coming down very frequently maize has been stop start and so has the drilling of the wheat , however weve nearly completed the new machinery shed and now only the roof to get on if these strong winds decide to settle down , at least we can get something done in and out of the showers
  6. just a quick update were back on full swing on the maize today after yesterdays deluge ! ground conditions pretty sticky in places and weve gotten bogged dwn a few times so decided to get a spare tractor in the fields in case trailers need a little helping hand
  7. yeah no probs il get a couple shots on for tomorrow night
  8. love the pictures gary , best looking ones I think ive seen for realism , great effort !
  9. thanks chaps great to hear all the feedback much appreciated , still plenty of things to add to make it evolve even further , as to the decals peter hardy does mine and he does a cracking job as usual , the data tags I got with a job lot of decals off of ebay , but it might be worth getting hold of peter to see if he does them ,
  10. rain stopped play today as far as the maize harvesting is going , 120 acre block at stockbridge mostly hanging in puddles of water , the unsuspecting weather gave us a chance to grade the last 2 loads of spuds and a chance to wash off and pack away the spud digger , also weve just taken delivery of a new kverneland 5 furrow , shame we couldn't try her today , but theres always tomorrow
  11. that's a cracking little display with some great effects , look forward to seeing it expand gary
  12. depends on wether you prefer a mounted cultivator or a trailed one really , ive got rid of the vaderstad trailed one now and just have a couple mounted ones , a bit more easier to get around all our country lanes , as to the spreaders depends how much you want to spend , ive got 2 triathlons there pretty good ,and the dangreville is a bit larger but a good machine , I hope that's helped a bit gary
  13. nearing the end of the working week and with a skeleton crew back around the farm keeping things ticking over while all the lads are out on maize harvest , were thankfully into the last 10 acre field of spuds , a good job nearing completion and a chance to crack on with some wheat drilling after the wknd ,
  14. all the maize around the farm all now cut 175 acres cleared and safely into the pit , now both foragers off out on the road and the first time out and the fendt is performing well , a bit tight getting round the lanes but we can cope with that ,all trailers out and were fast running out of tractors and trailers even got the old 7810 out on trailer bashing duties , mite need to call in alex at Oakley and stew Elliott to see if they can spare a few days , mite even have to make a few phone calls to get some demo kit in ,
  15. nearly the beginning of a new week and were hard into the maize , only 50 acres or so left at the farm all is going well and the new set of wheels and tyres on the 416 making all the difference and well worth purchasing , also flat out hedge trimming around the maize stubbles ready for wheat drilling
  16. a new week underway and every machine is out the yard , with maize harvesting underway first off round the farm 175 acres then off on the road , back at farm 100 acres of drilling due to start with winter barley ready to go in , as were short on machines ,alex at Oakley farms has tracked one of his chaps and machines in to come in and cultivate the 100 acres of wheat stubble so we can get the drill moving ,
  17. a very productive meeting with alex from Oakley farms sees us working together in partnership to take on a total of 800 acres of grass and wholecrop , oakleys boys will be drilling with our boys doing some ground prep so working hand in hand so to speak , first in will be 400 acres of grass , which were on with now and then later on 400 acres of wholecrop which will be designated for orchards dairy herd , meanwhile overnight rain has halted drilling and power harrowing so the boys in the yard getting the forager and the 416 ready for maize next week
  18. not overly too impressed to be honest , struggles for some power on some of our clay ground ,and not all that smooth on long hauls , I would stick to green & yellow or green & red if I was you jack ! good job no paper work was signed ha ha! !!!!!
  19. no probs , all our lights work well , ha ha! !!!!!!!!
  20. a new week with lots more work coming in have to invest in some more drivers soon ! with the boys off hauling compost from taunton now 3 on the raod and 2 on spreading as soons as the trailers tipped , keep Oakleys boys on there toes , then hopefully into the maize nxt week !
  21. with the boys due for the wknd off weve just acquired 2 14 tonne bailey trailers to go with our other 14 tonne bailey , just in time for the boys to go off hauling from viridor in taunton back to ashill ready for the spreaders to start , a mere 300 acres for Oakley farms , should keep us busy for a few days ! meanwhile in the yard the building contractors have just got the roof off the grain shed ready to make way for a new machinery shed soon !
  22. potato digging well under way and the first field of 10 acres cleared and cultivated ,the first load leaves the yard ready to head on up to branstons , weve got a new toy a valtra to replace the 936 , we didn't need all that horsepower and the size and especially with all the maize hauling the boys have to do in a week or so time , also got a good deal with plenty of change in the pocket !!! , the valtras first job drilling grass seed hopefully she"l perform well , also well into cultivating and only another 175 acres left on farm to do then another 450 acres on customers farms to do , happy days , the jobs just keep on rolling in
  23. thanks ol , yeah there seems to be a fair few floating around down our neck of the woods , pretty well built aswell so they can take a fair bit of abuse !
  24. end of the week and weve just started digging the first lot of spuds , straight into the trailers then off to the grader and then some off in to boxes into our cold store and then box up a load to go up to branstons for the beginning of next week , also the new toys arrived just in time to be readied before we start cutting some early maize
  25. been a pleasure alex to work to such reliable schedules , and top staff , remember anything we can help you with give us a shout , drinks on you m8 !!!!!!!!
