  1. I know you didn't, but the journalist who wrote the article picked up on the fact that one of the shooters was joint master of the local hunt, and was obviously trying to implicate the hunt as a whole, when the hunt itself was not involved.
  2. You'd rather they beat them to death with a club I suppose?? I can't really see anything inhumane about shooting them in this case, and I see no reason to start throwing mud at the hunt - the fact that one of the people involved is joint master of the local hunt is coincidental. The hunt were not involved.
  3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260371110488 or am I missing something??
  4. 4000 litres is a pretty big tank any way (I don't know about the Deere, but Househams biggest are 5000 IIRC). Tank size on the real machine will come down to what the customer requires - 4000litres @ 100litre/ha is 40 hectares, probably one to two hours work with a 36metre boom travelling at 15kph (depending on field sizes!). With a smaller boom (down to 30 or even 24metres) it would take longer still. Weight also becomes an issue - 1 litre of water/pesticide mix weighs approximately 1 kg, so you've got about 4 tonnes of liquid in that 4000 litre tank (liquid fertiliser is even heavier - 4000 litres would be nearly 5 tonnes)
  5. Not quite. The area indicator is the last 2 letters of the prefix, not the first 2. Therefore it is EW which was Huntingdon I think Ernest Doe & Sons produced their last original build in 1968 when 3 'Doe 150' were built which were 2 Ford 'Force' 5000's joined. The 130's that Does refurbished were rebuilt with 2 x 75hp 5000 skid units, or uprated by using the 75hp 5000skid at the front, and a 94hp 7000 at the rear. As they were only refurbished, they retained the original 130 registration number (and in any case re-registering them as new would fall foul of safety cab legislation).
  6. Well it's unlikely to be one of those then, because the new model is scheduled for release during the first part of this year, not the end of it!!! As to the original subject of the thread, I'll keep quiet for now - let the steam stop coming out of my ears
  7. This has already been discussed on another thread! Andy posted a pic of the prototype FW60 from the London toyfair, which confirmed that the casting is new. With regard to the combines, the NH CR9080 redecal is out in the US as a dealer edition, so it is probable it will come out here on a 6 month dealer only issue to start with. If that is the case, it won't be in the general toy catalogue until later in the year. The CX880 may well be redecalled as an 8080, we will have to wait and see. A redecal on the Case Axial Flow is a question mark, as the panel work has been altered on the new 'real ones'. I think, in all honesty, the number of combines in the catalogue last year was a bit too much, and most of them had been superseded in reality.
  8. According to Stuart Gibbards books, the 10 tractors built were supplied to the Falkland Islands, Canada and St Helena. There were uncabbed 744-40 and 1164-40, as well as the cabbed 1184-40. At least one of the 1164-40s went to St Helena. I can't find any more information than that! (I haven't seen this issue yet - I'm still reading the last one!!!)
  9. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it was probably the excessive front ballast that probably pulled her over. It would raise the centre of gravity quite a bit. The way the cab has held up is impressive - I wonder how some other makes would have withstood that?
  10. Super glue doesn't seem to work too well for these. I (and most people I would think) generally use an epoxy resin glue like Araldite. It is a good idea to wash all the parts to start with to ensure there is no mould release agent/grease/dirt on them which might affect the paint and file/emery any rough edges on the castings. Small parts like handles and levers are often easiest painted before fixing (they may be inaccessable when fitted). Most of it is easier to paint if you part assemble into sections ie. skid unit, axle, bonnet etc, especially where for instance the skid unit and bonnet are a different colour. Obviously you paint wheels before fitting tyres, and before fitting them to the model. The secret is not to rush it. They all come with clear instructions. Do a dry fit (without glue) on each part to check the fit before you glue it. Support the part while the glue sets if necessary, and just assemble a bit at a time, leaving the glue to set before fitting the next part (most of Nigels models can be made in a series of sub assemblies so you can work on one whilst the glue sets on another).
  11. The wheeled equivalent is available in both New Holland and Case IH colours, but the mudguards on the wheeled machines are completely different from the QT, as the wheels stand much higher than the tracks. Depends how far you want to go converting them. Although just fitting wheels to the QT without further modification won't be accurate, I agree it is probably better than wasting the rest after you have taken the tracks off. (and probably no more inaccurate than some off the shelf models/toys )
  12. There was - 9432 Honda Four Trax 300 ATV, Logic CT700 High Sided Trailer & Animals It was also available on its own - 9413 Logic CT700 High Sided Trailer Available from 1994 to 1997
  13. Well, you've got the catalogue, you have look The picture isn't too clear, but it the number on the side looked to me like 6435. Looking again, I can't be sure of the third digit, but it is certainly 64*5. Either way the pic is a definately a 6400 series tractor It is also a 'Highway' model with the high vis cab with no right hand 'B' pillar, so I doubt if that is actually what we will get as the toy. Best to stick with 7465 I think I would think they have just used a convenient pic, rather than having the correct one
  14. And just to add further to the confusion, the real tractor that is pictured in the small 'public' catalogue is in fact a 6435
  15. Rustons Engineering (RECO) are the UK importer for Mengele.
  16. Perhaps you haven't purchased anything that expensive from the States? The basic allowance for merchandise is £18 total value including shipping. If marked as a gift, the allowance is £36. Above that they normally levy the vat anyway.
  17. This seller on the other hand really is having a giraffe surely? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRITAINS-FARM-BUILDER-ATCOST-FARM-BUILDING-SET-4708-MB_W0QQitemZ330307818166QQihZ014QQcategoryZ156623QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem :o
  18. By the time you've paid shipping on top of that (its only free shipping within the US), then added the vat on the total plus shipping, plus the £8 handling fee for Royal Mail, it starts to look a bit expensive to me. (around £480) I'm sure there was one in Europe (on eBay) a couple of weeks ago that went for a lot less than that.
  19. They could certainly be heard a long way off
  20. It surprises me how many people seem to think John Deeres sound good - to me they are one of the roughest sounding engines around. Maybe it's just my hearing Of all the tractors I have heard over the years, I have to say the sweetest sounding one was a 200hp Schluter E9500TV. It had a straight 8 cylinder engine of Schluters own design and it simply purred. I've never heard anything else that even comes close.
  21. I don't think so really. It isn't easy to tell from photos, but it doesn't look like a repaint to me so, even without the box outer it appears to be as mint as you are ever likely to find. I doubt if you would find the tractor anywhere else for that money, and finding another in top condition is less likely still. If I was in need of that version of the Major, I would be happy at that price I think.
  22. I haven't seen the toy for real yet, but looked at the real thing at LAMMA - it is huge
  23. In the big 'trade' catalogue it shows as a 7580, with just a silhouette and captioned to the effect that the real tractor is not yet launched, but in the small 'public' catalogue it is shown as a 7465 with a picture of a real 6435 Makes you wonder
  24. I would agree with that, and it is definately not an original britains box, in spite of the wording of the listing suggesting it is - bit underhand IMO and bordering on fraudulent.
  25. New Holland T6070. It came out for the US last year, and I think has been in dealers here. It is just new to the toy catalogue.
