  1. sorry - it takes me a while but its sunk in now you have moved from a 80cm wide bale to 120cm wide bale. What I was talking about is that on 120cm balers NH had, used 5 strings but most balers 120cm wide run with 6 strings. its only till now they use 6 strings on 120cm wide bales. Where do you farm to get a McCorrmick baler - as the UK have stop selling them now?
  2. just interesed why do you want 5 string bales? NH were five string until recently and have now gone to 6 due to demand. Main reason, 5 strings have to take more pressure and so are vunerable to snap and also if one string goes down then the bale can fall apart whereas a 6 string machines can run with a string down. \
  3. I have never purchased the 100 as I only collect UH models but I have seen them today - the cx100 isnt as detailed as the 105 - there is no detail in the cab roof (beacon, arial, work light etc) and poor steps. It seems more britains quality but it is made by someone else but its slipped my mind - perhaps someone will remind me.
  4. These boxes are the standard style for Deutz - I also got mine from them for ?10 each ttv1160 - there are two types one with front links and one with front weights.
  5. Now thats the honest answer I like JDs Colour MF cab design as there leavers etc are very ergonomic when we use drills and balers. Valtra because they have as a company a positive drive to succeed in this declining market. I dislike case as they have lost the plot a little with there range but hopefully the restructure this year will bring them out of it. Unfortunatly I don't care much about the drive and performance as machinery is my thing.
  6. You are right here! more and more people are looking at after sales and Parts before they concider a brand. You will also find the dealer network will determine most of the preferences. In Essex its mainly NH or Case due to Does having over 20 Depots - In Kent its JD and NH as MF has only established a strong dealer this year. and so on. Just for interest has anyone purchased a machine whether a tractor of machine from a dealer miles away just to get what you want with out dealer or farmer influence - or have you purchased on recommendation from your local dealer, sales rep or Farmers using local dealers?
  7. I would change the Welder to Welger before someone more cruel reads it!! :D
  8. I struggle with pictures - but just to confirm you don't just move the ring the whole drawbar needs altering - Welger and Claas balers swivel up and down at the baler end of the drawbar but take a look sometime and you will spot it on most balers - they will pivot or turn upsidedown.
  9. Well the pto goes underneath it Most draw bars are bolted on with the PTO on top to a gearbox - if you unbolt our belt baler drawbar for example and turn it over and bolt it back on the pto (still attached to the gearbox) becomes underneath. I will post some pictures to conclude this
  10. I visit a lot of dealerships and see all types of tractor workshops - and everything goes wrong. You may not experience problems with your machine but it wouldn't be hard to find someone who has thrown it back. When selling we take advantage of other peoples problems of course -thats how rumours spreads + pub talk!! JD have gone through a bad patch recently with transmissions etc but are rectifying it but MF also lost a lot with the 6000 tractors but now their back on top - Ford had a reputation years ago with porus blocks and so on - the main reasons I find that causes big problems is cost cutting, having an inovative or patented design never tried, or bad suppliers. All will be rectified and become icons in their own right. But saying all that I think MF are better ;D :D
  11. Well - UK has followed another route compared with Europe. We traditionally tow from the pickup hitch - health and safety like this way as the lower you pull the further forward the Centre of Gravity which means the tractor doesn't tip up, to confirm this there is a video from H&S showing this if you can be ars*d. The Europeans mainly tow the American way and remove the pickup hitch and attach a hitch frame near the top link. Advantages, well one is if the pickup is removed there is better ground clearance and with the combination of the hitch being higher means baling is a dream as the straw etc doesn't roll under the tractor or hitch. all our Vicon balers have drawbars that can be altered to euro spec. and also the Rau sprayers. disadvantages, if you tow so high and above the axle height you have more chance of flipping the tractor if you loads stops suddenly as the C of G is high. There are a few farmers ive been to running high hitchs and mainly for baling. UK do many thing the rest of the world don't - 1000 pto is one - you will see a lot our machines now come in with 6 spline even for 1000. hope this helps
  12. I Hope Gommit is German For Gromit!! ;D ;D only joking! Do you live or work in germany?
  13. Its another European thing with Krone, Vicon and other machines offer tandem axles for round balers - I find most farmers in this country won't pay for them as they say they don't need them and they are expensive! The main reason is they are legally rated to 60Kph whereas most machines are 40 or 50kph - thats why we sell a lot of tadems in Germany for example - most tandem axles are fitted with air brakes to meet the 60kph regulations but can have hyd. They also give excellent comfort on the roads and fields as they eliminate the bumps as they contour. One reason a lot of Big balers have gone this way.
  14. I saw a post the other week regarding mirror glass missing from UH Tractors. I had never suffered from this until the other day. Unfortunatly I cannot return the item , so does anyone know where to get the materials to replace the mirror glass? Sliver foil sounded good but is no where near the same and hard to keep smooth - can you buy a thin sheet of sticky mirror paper? The kids have mirror card but I can't seem to find any thinner! :'( can you help?
  15. Thanks for your time in fiding out
  16. The other thing to check is the fluted rollers and flap that meter the seed - they are vunerable to mice. I've seen a lot of drills where the mice run up the pipe and chew a hole through the flap and roller so they can nest in the hopper. hope this helps
  17. 2wd - would it be better sold through classic tractor for example?
  18. Does anyone now average prices of secondhand tractors? I have a 7610 Ford with Q cab 'Y' reg, quite tatty though. Has had a new engine. Were thinking about changing it as the old girl is getting tired looking. Are these tractors suited to the younger Classic tractor collector yet? - I've seen a few rebuilt fords at shows.
  19. Where did you get the rake from? Deutz coloured machines are hard to find - saying that you will see a few this year.
  20. No your not wrong - it was called the 'Red Bull' and it was a 9m mower mounted with a JCB dump truck front - it was designed well before the cougar with the reverse drive design. I had the pleasure of seeing one in the factory but unfortunatly they never made it to the UK and eventually the project was dropped. Im still tempted in making one now UH has made the job a lot simpler with the cougar as the main components. I have pictures of it somewhere but all Profi readers look back at Sept 2001 - its on the front page with a large article on it.
  21. The Valtra is 190HP with a little fine tuning upto 200hp and the NH is 250HP
