  1. I'm pretty sure it's a 165 robbo... at least mine is anyway  :-\

You are lucky it still has the tyres as well.. most of them fell off... they seem to have expanded over the years... or the hubs have shrunk perhaps  ???

    You're right  :o :o :o I have just put my glasses on and had a closer look  ??? ??? ??? ??? I have been thinking it was a 135 doh!

  2. looks great i need a cabnit

on the massey self there is a littel i think 165 and trailer go any info on it

The little Massey is a Corgi 135 and the trailer is from my childhood days, I think it was a Britains log trailer, I found it when I was clearing out my mothers loft and came across and old toy box. I used to have loads of tractors when I was a child but when I left home my mother gave them all to the local nursery school, they would have been worth a bit now and been quite rare

I have just got back from IKEA and I have got 2 extra shelves  @ ?10 each, unfortunately the trip cost me ?76 as the boss wanted a hall table and 3 picture frames  :-\ :-\ :-\ ah well a small price to pay really  ;) ;)

  4. I'd like to see some more pics of that sometime please Robbo.

    Another question...

Do you have lights for the cabinet ??? - and if not... any plans to have...

I've still not got lights in my cabinet, which is something I really must get around to sorting out sometime in the near future  :-[

The short answer is no, me and electrics don't mix, I'm just about OK with a hammer but anything more delicate than that and I need outside assistance, thats why I can't do any conversions I am just too ham fisted and I would ruin anything

  5. Nice one Robbo.... Looks like a bargain for only ?90... good old Ikea...

One question... what's the crawler ???

It is a Ros SAME Explorer in 1/16 scale, it is going to be joined soon by a Cat Challenger 95E and hopefully an MT765 (if the bid is successful)

You probably can get more shelves... do you know I hadn't even though about that :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ back to IKEA this afternoon then  :D :D :D

  6. 'Er indoors relented and it was off to IKEA for a new cabinet that they call a "Billy" bookcase, 6 shelves and glass doors not bad for ?90

The intention is to have one shelf for each major manufacturer but at the moment it is a bit haphazard

Top shelf Ford, Fiat and New Holland, then 2nd shelf John Deere

    Models0272304x1728.jpg

Next one is the SAME's and the fourth one at the moment is a mixture of red ones, MF, Case and McCormick

    Models0262304x1728.jpg

The bottom 2 shelves are a bit of a hotchpotch of odds and sods that either don't fit in with anything else or are a different scale

    Models0252304x1728.jpg

Eventually I plan to have them as

    1 Ford Fiat New Holland

    2 John Deere

    3 SAME

4 Deutz and the 1/25 models

    5 CaseIH and McCormick

    6 AGCO

The I have to work on a second cabinet  ;D ;D ;D ;D just don't tell the better half yet "softly softly catchee monkee"

  7. The 284S and 294S in marky's brochure are built by Landini. Landini used the same cab as MF 600 series. MF owned a big percentage of Landini.

As I tried to say before the A in 3050A stands for Allrad or 4 wheel drive. Doesn't mean that MF produced a model with 3050A on the bonnet. Deere 3050's are refered to as 3050A doesn't mean it was written on the bonnet like that.

To get a model 294S with 600 series type cab you just need a ROS Landini and a pot of red paint.

so why is this one 2 wheel drive

  8. Manufacturers hp ratings can vary wildly as it depends what standard the manufacturer chooses to use. Some take the reading at the initial output at the flywheel, with and without things like the fan, alternator and other ancillaries. Obviously that gives the highest possible readout of their tractor power.

Others use different measurements with ancillaries engaged which gives a lower reading. It gets even more confusing when you start to include features like powerboost which many tractors now have in transport or pto mode.

When you get your tractor dyno tested they are testing the pto output so don't expect it to be the same as the manufacturers rated output, very few, if any, manufacturers use the pto output as their rated maximum power, it can be up to 15% less.

Another interesting site is the Nebraska test lab which was set up many years ago to test the sometimes extravagant claims of the manufacturers

    http://tractortestlab.unl.edu/

You might be surprised at the results for your favourite tractor although most of the tractors tested are American and may not be available in the UK

  9. I don't know if this has been done before or whether it should be in this part of the forum or under collections :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ but as well as the models reading about tractors keeps me warm on long winter evenings, yes I'm a sad old git :-[:-[ :-[:-[ :-[:-[

So I thought I would post the collection and see if anyone has any thoughts on their favourite books.

As you can see I have no particular colour bias, well only a little one, and I have books on a number of different marques.

I do have to say that my personal favourite is Four Wheels Ahead the story of SAME Tractors by Massimo Di Nola, but really I like anything that tells the story of how the companies started and how they got to where they are today.

The next purchase will be one of the Stuart Gibbard books on the Ford tractor story
