Mike R
I was wondering if any of the farm model manufacturers had guided tours around their factories like Britains, Siku and universal Hobbies It must be fascinating to watch them assembling them especailly nowdays where they build so much detail in to each model. archbarch
the key words used assemble and China i would imagine it to be very boring??? The design and marketing operations would make an interesting day, but i dont think they would want anyone to see that.
ploughmaster
I think a lot of the design work is now done in the Far East too. Most of the firms we would regard as the manufacturer, are actually little more than the distributor. The only chance of seeing design and/or manufacture here, would be to visit one of the UK/Europe based specialised model makers, but as they are usually on their own and don't work as a factory production line, there probably wouldn't be that much to see at any one time
nashmach
I'm sure it will be something that Andy and Tris will be looking into soon....
sparrow legs
its a good idea, i go to a main uk model makers production factory many times a year, it has a casting area, spray booth and assembly area he never lets me loose to play with all the spare parts to make my own creation, he always charges me for them
Marmitemania
Its a real shame I never asked for a factory tour at Britains, I used to regularly write to them with suggestions or asking for spares, always had a reply and always got sent spares F.O.C, a factory tour would be out of the question now with it being in China. :'( :'(
