MuirHillyBilly
Just finished the interior and now working on the steps which seem a lot harder than I thought- could'nt find a donor pair and want to avoid them looking too chunky so have gone for a brass/plastruct combination . Then it's cab glazing, door mirrors and some finer details, may get done by Christmas
Paul Palmer
very nice so far ,a model that you just dont see much of ,makes a change to see it
MuirHillyBilly
So next it was the steps. Bit tricky for my fat fingers so I tried some brass first which was too hard to work with, then some plastruct but getting smooth lines was tough so I went for a combination of the two. Plastruct sides and brass steps, drilled the platruct and slotted the 'steps' in. First pics show this mocked up and then later painted. Then it was the interior, I changed the seat as the old one looked naff (new one is in the 5th pic), painted up the steering column and side panel together with the right hand side levers, I'll get some better pics of this. MuirHillyBilly
Next is the glazing, I'm using thin but sturdy clear plastruct, at this point only the front and back windows are done. Also added are door mirrors nicked from a donor Massey. I've added a little pic for those not familiar with this old English beast! MuirHillyBilly
Almost done then, just the decals and the rear number plate and rear spot light to secure. Heres a few better pics, including some implements.

MuirHillyBilly
After taking a long look at the yellow peril from many an angle I decided to whip off the steps, re-position the front axle and tweak the bonnet. The steps were too chunky so I got in some finer plastruct and used blu-tak to provide a mould so the steps could set properly with glue (worked a treat) Also pictured is the converted Shawnee Poole hitch ready for painting. MuirHillyBilly
And I am happy to report she is now decalled up, wiper on, rear lamp and number plate (can't decide if I want these on it yet?) So all done, more pics to follow Edited December 3, 2012 by MuirHillyBilly

CMB
Stunning! Looks just the part in front of that swan-necked dumper . Are you going to do the dirty Lee or keep her as good as?
MuirHillyBilly
Cheers Chris and Fred, Chris she will be kept clean, I intend on doing another soon, not a 121, but since she is a one off I'll keep my grubby hands off So here she is all done! Overall I'm pretty happy, next time I'll do the dimensions better as I've done a lot of this by eye and a little guess work. The bonnet and rear section were the toughest as they are at weird angles. The cab was pretty straightforward or at least more than I thought it would be. Next time I'd take a little more care with the painting and look for a better decal option but all in all she will take pride of place in my collection

CMB
Like, oh very much like. Decals look perfect to me. Is your next MH going to be bigger, say a 141 or even a 171?
MuirHillyBilly
The 171 is what I'm thinking or a 101 on the smaller side, the 141 is great but quite similar to this one aside from the finer details. It begs the question whatever happened to the 151 and 161?
CMB
Afraid I don't know enough about the brand, but I'm not familiar with those designations. Perhaps there was too much competition by other manufacturers in that hp bracket at the time? (if I'm understanding the numbering right)

NIGEL FORD
The 171 is what I'm thinking or a 101 on the smaller side, the 141 is great but quite similar to this one aside from the finer details. It begs the question whatever happened to the 151 and 161? 161 preceded the 171 and is what the Matchbox "Kingsize" model is and quite recognisable as such, but no there never was a 151. MuirHillyBilly
Thank you to you all for your kind words, really makes it all the more worthwhile. Not sure how I forgot about 161!! I've seen one locally I believe this is the full range of tractors MH did; MH 101 Mk1 1968 MH 101 Mk2 MH 101 Mk3 (replaced by MH 121 in 1972) MH 110 1969 Uprated MH 101 fitted with Perkins A6.354 MH 111 1973 upgraded MH 110 fitted with Perkins A6.354 MH 121 1972 Ford 2715E 132 bhp 6-cylinder MH 141 1978 Ford 2704ET engine or a Perkins T6.354 MH 161 1969 Perkins V8.510 engine MH 171 1975 replaces MH 161 fitted with Perkins V8.540 engine This is my favoured option for the next build, although there is a line of weathering projects first http://i4.bebo.com/046/10/mediuml/2008/08/31/13/108290477a8774679279ml.jpg
