Check out this for a strange looking header...

Not a stripper header aka Shelbourne Reynolds - that utiliises plastic fingers on powered bat reeels, similar in principal to the roman vallus.

This depended on fricton of the spiral reel to snap off the heads.

Invented by the legendary tom Carrol.

Marky F - you should have a shrine to TC next to Harry F - he was the father of the Massey Combines!!

This page has quite a good description of what a draper header is in the 6th paragraph. It's not a pickup header, its like an ordinary header but with a belt bringing the material to the middle instead of an auger, such as is usually seen on swathers. In MF speak, its like powerflow turned sideways ;)
