Lord Ferguson
It looks like you just harvest the tops... Interestingly they didn't call it a header in the 70's in Oz... it was simply refered to as "the front"

Lord Ferguson
Nice easy header to make I bet... just shave the bobbles off Gav's packer rolller... and hey presto
gromittigger
you beat me to it - i think is a stripper header which leaves the straw and strips the head off - Shelbourne Reynolds sell them. UK combine contractors buy them to fit for certain crops etc http://farmindustrynews.com/mag/farming_machinery_3/
james f
Thats what it is alright. Don't they also call them Draper headers or is that something different entirely?

Tellarian
Not a stripper header aka Shelbourne Reynolds - that utiliises plastic fingers on powered bat reeels, similar in principal to the roman vallus. This depended on fricton of the spiral reel to snap off the heads. Invented by the legendary tom Carrol. Marky F - you should have a shrine to TC next to Harry F - he was the father of the Massey Combines!! james f
This page has quite a good description of what a draper header is in the 6th paragraph. It's not a pickup header, its like an ordinary header but with a belt bringing the material to the middle instead of an auger, such as is usually seen on swathers. In MF speak, its like powerflow turned sideways
