Don't know if you read any of the tractor magazines Jamie but if you can look in the August 2007 issue of Tractor & Machinery on pages 94 and 95, there is an article there that will give you some pointers and possible ideas.  ;)

All you have to do is have a trawl through this site and see what others have made and then decide on what you want to be your first project

then do a post on what you want to create and ask for pointers

there are many people on here that will give you pointers in the right direction and help as much as possible but the first part is up to you as we can't tell you what to build

Good luck with scratch building    Once you get started you will wonder what you were worried about

We are here to help all those interested in our hobby ;)

if you have the basic dimensions ect then you can build from scratch ,try and start with something simple first off say a trailer ,they are pretty simple straight sides ect ect just draw out a plan of it and use plasti card and strut to build it,basic dimensions can be found on most company websites, or quite a few of us have brouchures which have that to,just ask all you need to do is divide it by the scale you want so if its 32nd scale then

4m long is 400 cm divided by 32 = 12.5 cm in the final size

heres a basic trailer  build

as you go on you are bound to get better with each build, dont give up just because one goes wrong or doesnt look quite right ,plent of people have done this when the skill was there, post your pics on here, we are all glad to help, if you get stuck then just ask via a post on here, and with time and pratice  items like these start to come out of the shed

What a lot of us use on here for scratch building is a material called Plastruct which is a form of plastic available in many different shapes and profiles, it can be easily cut and glues together and is much cheaper and easier to work with than brass. Plasticard is the sheet material that usually gets used with it and comes in sizes between A4 and A2 depending on your supplier, most good model shops will keep these in stock if not try the website below for them

http://www.ema-models.co.uk/shop/catpages/page-AA.html    for plastruct

http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZstation-road-baseboards    for plasticard

The topic below gives you an idea of what can be done with these materials, this was my first scratchbuild project but I'd always recommend anyone else to start off with something simpler as I'm just a glutton for punishment :D :D

If any of us can help you in anyway just ask andd we'll try our best :)
