The CLAUDE CULPIN books were regularly updated over a few decades.We had several editions at Plumpton College [East Sx,College of Agriculture] in the early '70s and I picked up one at a swapmeet some years ago,10th Edition 1981. First edition 1938  and then randomly.....no time to read them though.... :)

Have you seen the old pond videos of Farm Machinery Film Records? some of the items here can be seen operating, makes good viewing.

I remember using one of the "ground driven rotary cultivators" and I think it was also called a Turbotiller, it did an OK sort of job on the surface but didn't do much underneath  :-\ :-\ :-\
