2 questions? 72F
why is it silver ?
when doing the 2640 covo last night i took the axle from a economy 6600 & went to replace it with a 5610 front 4wd axle but the casting wouldn't go back together ? will the axle casting need fileing down a bit for the axle pin to fit ? as i've done this before years ago & had no problems.
The tractor is silver because I strip all of my conversions back to bare metal before I start them .
Yes you are right re the 5610 axle ,you will have to file part of the axle to allow the pin to go farther through .
Hope this answers your questions and make sense !

Thanks for Old Ford .Like I said mine may not be the best .I am willing to take advice from anyone if they have an easier way of doing this conversion .Its not my favourite .

1972 I maybe able to get some pics of a 188 over my mates place (same place as Udi's photo earlier). They have an array of MF's so I'll see if they have one and take half a dozen snaps for you.
OK Thanks

Are there any mudguard retaining clips to hold the cab in place as i cant tell from photo?
No I 'm affraid not,the base tractor was a low budget 6600 in brown .

Only real difference was the 188 had an extension piece in the gearbox to make it longer (and a better seat as well) - I will try to find a picture later. All 1*8 series tractors had the same extra casting in the middle to extend the wheelbase - that's the main difference.
Cheers Marky .I have just found a pic of a 175 as well .
-
Ol yeah i know, trying to think of a more common casting to get a similar result
The ertls are about the best base

Yes it does make a model a bit weighty when its all metal .
This white metal is very good to work with but can be a bit fragile as well .
