  1. you as well simon ? glad i'm not the only one thinking i been seeing things on me travels who's got that beastie then dan ?
  2. Happy birthday john & best regards of the day to you mad says TT probably wants new shoes \
  3. my last trimmer i had was a bomford supatrim heavy old thing it was , would really pull the 1494 over when working on banks but got to admit apart from a couple of head bearings & new flails it went well. my old boss had a new bomford a few years back , good trimmer all bar dodgy spool blocks joystick eh ? shows how out of touch i am 6M ? you got her weighted for full reach or does the jd cope with it ok? last SG2 i used for trimming was a 2850 2wd & McConnel 95 , damn good tractor for visibility & traction
  4. i think the end product will be an 8x4 , but not the base model
  5. 4x3 ? you sure yer not up for a numpty mate ? dont you mean a 6x4 or even a 4x2 ?
  6. all looks well there stephen , good to see tidy machinery , some stunning landscape ,thanks for posting them up chap :)
  7. Brand/Manafacturer - 10/20 always be a massey lad , but i'd have to buy whats right for the job Country of origin - 15/20 all forieign anyway Interior design - 20/20 if you have to spend 12 + hours a day in it then it's got to be right Looks - 15/20 they're all starting to look the same nowadays Price - 15/20 would be prepared to pay that little bit extra if it was worth it Reliability -17.5/20 major factor in down time costs most importantly dealer / manufacturer backup & support 20/20 no good having the best machine in the world ,if the backup & support isn't forthcoming
  8. looks all well tris , was the fh a tractor unit to start or a rigid 6 i have the rigid6 but really need to get another axle to build an 8 legger
  9. looks like you got a deal with that attic space mate , but cant believe the chiminy breasts were plastered over
  10. good representation of the 78 chap & interesting to see the spreader used for carting
  11. glad i cought up with this topic , got some cracking pics in there mate , like the use of the sizal
  12. i take it you've got a longer reach with this trimmer mike ? & electric controls , surprises me about the bomford though, got a chap round here swears by them he has two fairly old ones , one fitted with trimming flails the other fitted with chain & blades for the verges both cable control operated on a JD1640opu & 2140s sg2
  13. dont think the tractors got any bigger jas , but as for me ? well lets just say i feel like a big kid when i'm around it i hope the flexi cab will be replaced at sometime nigel, mainly because that was already on it so i have the frame to hand,on the other hand , i've seen complete rigid frame cabs about for reasonable money , but apart from a QD cab on a 135 i've not worked in a rigid cabbed 100 series & want to try to keep as familliar as possible to the tractors i used to drive , the flexi cab for me has a bit more character going to be a while till it gets any proper work again though mate :'( not got anything planned for winter mate , with any luck i can start tinkering with it over the winter bit like yer 20 mate , work or not just nice to blast up & down the roads for a bit it was too mark , felt good to be in the seat of a proper tractor again & not to be sat in something that resembles thunderbird one may have something to do with it mate never really given much thought to where some people have to store them \
  14. umm , errr, no bill not air-conditioned , i think you mean cold :D i know what yer saying bill , but seriously mate when you go to the shows all the 100 series tractors are usually cabless, very rarely see one with it's cab,so the cab will eventually go back on in any case apart from the 135's i never worked with a bigger 100 series cabless tractor
  15. thanks bc , but having no cab does restrict the ammount of time i'd want to spend on it during the winter yes not a bad day really sean ,stayed dry thats the main thing
  16. my foots not on the clutch pedal mate ! but i only got short legs & me foot dont quite get to the foot rest ahead so i puts it on the gearbox , sort of a habbit really , used to do a fair bit of hedge trimming & baling with a 165 /188 so sort of spend the day half twisted in the seat & gearbox was great for resting yer foot on . no plans as yet mate , got to replace one side of the front axle beam & the thrust washers on both sides , lights ? in time when i get a loom for it but some of the dials need rewireing anyway & the number plate will be removed as & when
  17. am i right in saying that trimmer is a fairly recent addition mike ? hows it working out ?
  18. was nice to get to actually use it instead of just pulling a few logs about in the transport box ! the loader ? unknown mate, been painted in the past & just has the dealers name on it now , it loaded the dung ok , but like the britains loaders the bucket doesnt really crowd enough when up high , so all the loading had to be done downhill
  19. oh yeah & all the trees have gone now as well , could say we got a few logs for the winter
  20. ground wasnt too bad , but it was still sticky & slippery in some places not a problem untill i had to drive over some of the dung as this was the only field available to spread it on as the others still had horses in them
  21. the ruscon spreader was borrowed from a neighbour & loaded by mad's dad in his zetor 7245
  22. apart from the few trees that went over a while back , the 168 hasnt had much to do & i've had little time to do it anyway , but a month or so ago i did manage to get out & spread some dung
  23. same era as the 48'S mark ? looks a beast , but overly big when compared to todays rigid tractors . ok so the detroit throws out 390hp , but 375 for the cummins , isnt bad considering fendt have the 936
