  1. hedge trimmer tractor ?
  2. looks a tidy tractor mart ,looking at the wheels though i'd say it was used for row crop work ,spuds ? but the fronts look to be on a narrower track width than the rears never took to the 698 ,used a 2wd for a few years , but it'd seen better days , the 698T was a joy to drive
  3. oil pressure gauge is fine although , a new oil filter & oil change probably wouldn't go amis i dare say that the heat of the engine was burning the dust off, giving the 'hot' smell
  4. no no no kev , dont restore her ,, when you've found a tractor that age in original condition , it would be a crime to start messing about with it, if it was beat all to peices fair enough , but as she is ? i'd leave her well alone , when the day comes to sell her on , you'll be quids in give it a very light rub down & get some polish on it , you may be polishin surface rust but it'll help
  5. if i remember rightly , the outside lever is draft control & the inside is constant pumping & position control
  6. kev, rub the quadrants down & you will see indented the positions marky is talking about
  7. looks good so far chap, like the stone effect paint as well
  8. not very often i go to those extremes , but they may be added at some point
  9. thanks for the encouraging replies people, am currently in the process of fitting cab glass
  10. thanks chaps rob the chassis choice was largely down to sean , who'd built his on the same , although others from the spares box were considered, the BM was the prefered choice. because of the design of the BM casting around the front axle mount it also let me use the siku axle to full effect to give me a fully articulate front axle
  11. rubbish pics , will have to get another camera at some point as the 699 didn't come supplied with front mudguards it's had some retrofitted
  12. here's my effort at an MF 699 & this time it's not just a modification of something off the shelf \ britains volvo BM chassis ros hurliman floorpan & cab britains 2680 bonnet & grill siku 5455 front & rear wheels britains ford exhaust, drilled out & curved top pipe
  13. well done gerbent , very smart looking tractor
  14. wow kev , thats a very straight tractor you have there , no dents or dinks , absolutely fantastic ! been looking for a 35 myself just lately , but once the front of the bonnet becomes the only way of stopping them the ones round here are pretty battle scarred , that & years of wallowing around in slurry, makes finding a good one hard work .
  15. likeing those a lot gav , going to be a right pig trying to get a satisfactry colour thouh , the last lot look a bit luminous \
  16. like F-P i remember the last lot of pics as well , very good to see it all came good in the end as for the combine , never heard of it before , but what a great day you must of had :)
  17. hmm think tris may need a certificate ben ?
  18. think you have it bang on there sue , my first thought was going to be chalkhorse farm what about HMP Erlestoke farms ? :D will ring you sometime in the week mate
  19. he doesn't know how many hrs it's done , the clock is damaged 7 couldn't see any readable digits , the corn is hauled away in a 4t wheatly trailer hauled by a leyland 272 turbo & baled with a class constant baler , a 35X loads bales , but is currently split for a clutch replacement . this is the best bit about my job i get to meet some great people with real character , he said i was welcome to see it working next week , but i'll be working , but he also has an old cider press & has invited me down in the second week in november to see it all working
  20. i happened to come across this litte feller on friday , a MASSEY FERGUSON 780 special With batteries ready to die in my camera i managed to get one pic only . it belongs to a chap called Mr Colwill at st stephens , nr. launceston, & uses it to cut approx 25 acres for his own wheat & barley feed thus saveing on ever increasing feed costs, bought by his father in 65 it still turns out every season for it's tasks, parts are getting a bit hard to come by, mainly belts but the perkins engine is still going strong with nothing other than an oil & filter changes every year
  21. wow havent seen one of those working for a while round here , thanks for that stevo , great pics :)
  22. in my experience sean , you just push the top peice up to open , as the bottom one is usually smashed out & as for those sprung & twst grip struts what an awfull idea those were the rear view of the cab sean , you may want to trim the lower peice for the rear of th cab as it looks like it's pushing the mudguards out a little
  23. might ? don't see why not you've done pretty well with the 5000 so far mate
  24. MJB1

    messy fergusons

& do what with it mate ? you saw the state of the cab , i could buy a complete runner for ?3000, it would take that much in welding just to get the cab half reasonable, nah it's better offf where it is, & if he thinks he can get enough spares from it to keep the other s going then it's worth more to him as spare parts
