  1. not touchy at all mate but even went to the added blokeyness not to read the instrctions for you :D :D any chance of another 50 mark ? \
  2. hey it's a technological bit of gear is this mate , like to see you master it in the first few goes :D
  3. cant believe i'm posting here again after all this time well mark guess what i found ! yep given to me a few years back & found it in a box , thats right , a 'make your own stamp thing with a board of rubber letters & numbers complete with ink & stuff machine ' :D well not only are the boxes stenciled , but thought i'd try this as well on the other sides , i thought it looked ok whats reckon ?
  4. i think really , get away from using the 7710 chassis & start on a ford 5000 as a base model mate
  5. i think a few of us regular members hear see this topic as the same old same old & thats the trouble , this topic should be rearing it's head less often , i know what we were all bought up with but times do change , from what i see this is how it sits UH attention to detail is second to none , but really for display use only so thats out the window for the children BRITAINS / RC2 / ERTL this is a double edged sword on one side we have britains whose reputation goes before them as quality toys , but now sadly non durable as toys & minimum detail input on many models released, BUT the parent company ertl makes real sandpit hard wearing tonka strength stuff , but the detail & relationship toward the real thing is either spot on or nothing like , also ertl have a comfortable relationship with JD so everything JD by britains will be very good & other lines less so. SIKU seems to be holding the middle ground & has done for sometime , they manage to build the sort of toy that britains should be . they can strike the balance between model & toy with very little difficulty ,enough detail to satisfy the collectors & enough durability to withstand consistant playing with . so at the moment my head says siku. but what we do have here at this forum is a door to the people at britains /rc2 & occasionally bill walters from ertl in the US, andy does go to britains with what must be a broken record of the same old grievances , but with enough encouragement & time , they do listen , it may seem like nothing changes but slow but sure the issues you have will be addressed & when they are we'll all be happy
  6. i think i have to agree with the comment about the siku front linkage, for the sake of a small screw with a tractor fitted front linkage & set of weights also in the box , a few models would look better with the weights
  7. whoa there peter you' really got a top result there mate the wheels & tyres finish her off nicely ready for work ,so come on get a decent machine on the back of her :)
  8. well it's always nice to have something just that little bit different in your collection
  9. hmm simon did comment that the smile on your face was ruined by the fact you had on CSI style overalls, respirator, latex gloves & feet protection slips , a clove of garlic round yer neck & an exorcist in waiting , afraid that some green may start to turn you :D
  10. hmm it of a weird one bill , i have the standard version ,green roof but the uncorrect white wheels & standard 4.57 decals , not seen one like that before
  11. onlt thing that i really noticed was the lack of rummage boxes , usually a MF595 chassis wheels & bonnet, is found in these for a couple of pound , but when they're up on the table they're priced at about a tenner not much for the conversionits really unless they wanted to break a complete model to get the parts they needed
  12. apart from using the pallet froks no they didn't . next time you go to a show mate , go through the rummage boxes , find some serviceable pallet forks , snap forks off, get a nail with same diameter as the hole in bale , drill through backplate , push nail through ,glue & paint , sorted
  13. well it has to be said , yet another great turn out for toy-trac , the wincanton site really lends itself to the event well done to all involved in making it happen . good to see the regulars ,sean, marky, tris, jez, barry, dan, sean , mark , mark, mandy, steve ,nigel, simon, andy, graham & sharon ,peter, paul & marysue & some not so familliar faces , nathan, andy, cmb, adam . & the ususal people that come up to me & say hello marcus , carry on a conversation & unfortunately i have no idea who they are but all being said a good turn out by the FTF members ,an event well worth supporting . the displays were done to a very high standard , which is getting to be very promising for the attraction of new members, the FTF table ws well staffed & full from end to end . maybe next year the show should be called , grahams display show , as it's the first thing you see when you walk through the door ! it's huge , not so much a display more of a regional attraction ! well done to all ,roll on next year
  14. top job pere , looks so much more than what it was bit of a strange choice for britains to release the volvo into the uk toy market , as very rarely see one about if at all , the first i saw a real one was at the royal show , the only others have been the 805 type models , great reputation behind these tractors though. still have mine in it's box , dont know how much it's worth , & never really understood why it holds such an attraction for me , never driven one , nobody has one working round here , but have kept it MIB ? great modification to it , may even buy a breaker to try one meself
  15. blimey that some weight on the front in the top few pics
  16. YES I'M SURE TH EXACTL WHAT Y U THOUGHT WHEN YO AT'S Y O U BUILT HER MR CHUMLY WARNE R YES YES
  17. or you could wait till you were out of the hedge & have the door open ! only to catch it on the first telegraph pole you forgot about :D been ther done that .twice , i'm sure i'm not on my own remember with the 500's you had a blower for clearing the windscreens & if you were lucky heater that worked , & creme de le creme , you could opt for a wait for it thats right a wireless radiogram so you could listen to radio 1 on good old crackly 275/285 MW that right you too could laugh along to someones misfortune on simon bate's our tune , guess who sang 'toast' in the 70's or 'johnny remember me' from the 60's at 10 o'clock at the golden hour , listen to the desparately unfit DJ who's so cool ,dance around the stage at the summer radio 1 roadshow, play along to 'bits & peices' & smiley miley to guess the distance from Lyme Regis to Great Yarmouthon with quite litterly mate ,hunderd & dozen people with nothing better to do, steve wright with his geese & his now awfull jingles but were brilliiant in the day remember this one guys & galls ! i'm all wright , you're all wright everyone's feeling allwright to night , nows the time to sing this song, & if you're all wright we can't go wrong ! OHH my god i cant believe i still remember that [ [ see what he did there ? he used his name , in this case wrig...... to replace the word ...... righ..... haaaa haaaa haaa hooo ha, h un mm er yes well you get it i'm so lonely \
  18. sad issue to deal with indeed , with any luck the animals died of smoke inhalation , before they knew any suffering
  19. well done tris well worth the time spent on it , fantastic result , hope yer going to toy trac , cant wait to meet you
  20. i think it's easy to pick fault with any tractor cabs from that era as by & large it was a learning curve for all manufacture's. the only people who can really comment on the good's & bad's are the people who worked with them from new , yes of course the 500 series cab was a step forward , you ask anybody who used a baler behind a 100 tractor with dust drifting into the cab & making you itch for the rest of the day & then having a 500 with a back window keeping the dust out ! also the same in the winter ,rain driving into the back of the cab as opposed to being completely sealed off to the awfull wether outside . the weight of the new cab obviously affected the performance ,the extra weight for one being the main culprit. all in all it was an improvment in tractor design , & like many others cab comfort varied as to what options were ordered when the tractor was new . after the 500 the 600,200& 300 came along the 600 was leaps ahead in cab design for MF with tried & tested mechanincs & a lower rated db sound proofing it was a good place to spend the day , although the rake of the steering wheel as to upright for my liking was improved in the later years when it was made to be adjustable. The cheaper version of the time was the 200 series again tried & tested mechanincs , but lacking in the cab department in the UK various cabs were offered , the very early 200 resembling 500series bonnets wit basic duncan /lambourne cabs fitted , but were then offered with the duncan de-lux cab or lower profile sekura cabs, got to admit although rather dated in design the duncan cab gets my vote . the flimsy sekura version would rattle itself to pecies, door hinges break off & not a brilliant driving position . vast improvement were then made with the 300 series tractors with a decent cab built specificaly for this tractor which was improved upon as the years went on. me personally ? having been aquainted with these tractors they were all great to drive , ............... well of couse they were it was back in the good old days , but not being a tractor driver anymore , i had the choice of a 575 or a 168 , i bought the 168 simply because it has more character & is fun to drive . The 100 series masseys ,the early 600 fords , the david brown 990,995 etc were all basic no nonsence tractors & this is why they will always be favorites . hmm sorry chaps i seem to have gone off into a world of my own \ all in all proper tractors back in a day when the driver still had somthing to do
  21. darn you're good mark thats the one ! with those wheels on she looks positivly huge compared to a 698T all down to wheelbase & wheel options thats as stunning pic now as when i first remembered it . dream tractor is still a 699 though
  22. looks like she'ss booted up on 38in & 28in wheels mark , & look see at the front mudguards & rear fender extensions due to the poor cabs & awfull wether here i wonder if a mint example can be found over in euroland ? would be a great find . any of you german members find one get some pics please. rory how about a feature on the 600 series , or even a guide to buying a 698 / 698T or 699
  23. nice find murray , looks like an early 698, but remember chaps these tractors were available with long & short wheelbase options ,also optional wheel sizes , the turbo is an after market fitting. the 698 T was available a few years after the 600's were released . mark have you got any other 698 brochures ? i can remember a leaflet of a 698 with MF 200 trailer driving round the corner of a farm building & that looked huge due to having 38in rears & 28in fronts. i have driven all 600 series models all different sizes, the 698T was a great drive, matter of fact i usually choose the 689T over the 3080 on a farm i used to work on alas no pics , the 698T was usually fitted on 36in rears & 26in fronts & short wheelbase only as i remember ,not a great driving position till the tilting steering wheel was introduced . the 1004 looks an interesting tractor mark
