  1. Amazing really, when you look at front wieghts you just think, yeah it's a front weight but then when somebody like Thomas builds a set, it really does show how finite and indepth the work is..... just to build a set of front weights!!
  2. Ooooh nice idea, Paul. Good base model to start with that Britains one.
  3. A mistake in my eyes, still a popular machine for real and to be honest, a few added extras to it would have been a good idea without getting to indepth.
  4. Is that two you're running at Huish now, you have one of those already don't you?
  5. Interesting to find that out, I hope a 5140 from 1997 will come along
  6. And round chimney. I think a dull green like you say fror the weathering, old clay tiles always hod moisture for algae and moss to grow.
  7. Looking nice already and looking at what you are working on it is sent to get even better still. Lock that chainsaw away mind, 'they're' on the prowl again...
  8. Much more UK spec, lovely looking model.
  9. Zia jumping to attention in the yard earlier today as a cat staggered past the gate. .. . dragging a rabbit bigger than itself!!
  10. An oh so popular machine around these parts, Will. Nice to see one being made and a fine job you are doing of it too. Rope or chain?
  11. Loooooking nice! One small thing though.... no lead valley's around the dormer roof?
  12. The County looks sharp, you've done a nice job of that. Pity there arn't more Zetors around in 1/32 like that either.
  13. What's that, Harry? The moaning or the drinking?!! Logs this morning and a bit of kindling. Home via pet shop and recycling centre, then a little garden job at home and that was it for the day. Tomorrow. . . No plans for once!! Maybe a little work in the garden but other than that, sweet FA. I may even get the beef shed out and see if I can have a tinker towards finishing it!
  14. Christian, thanks for your indepth repliea in your topic. It is pleasing to see you acknowledge all those replies by other members here who have all each made such good replies here.
  15. :ha ha!: :ha ha! You dirty beggar!
  16. JCB 3C for me too and the Fords and the Deeres! I just wish they would get all the final sample models for the year completed before releasing the catalogue. It really annoys me and I think it is somewhat lacklustre to have photos of real machines where photos of models/toys should be.
  17. Wow! That's quite a run over the past few years! Of course, I'm not a tad envious!! Your construction qualification was a superb idea and what good stead it put you in as a reward. I do wish I had more than just my HGV license to call on when work was quiet. Sounds like staying away from Europe for the time being is another good idea of yours too. If you have any leftover ideas..... Ya know...... Ahem!
  18. I agree with you Lee, the range does lack excitement. As I said, I do not collect Britains at the moment as my collection theme is only for stuff I have used and to be honest, if Weise or Shuco made a model of a Gleaner combine and so did Britains, the Britains would not catch my eye immediately nor maybe my wallet. Whilst not in my collection I think there was a turning point just a couple of years ago and that was the new Massey they produced. While playful, it brought a new linkage, a proper front weight block (albeit on a dud front linkage) and also the general appearance of proportions, quality of finish and so on. The latest Fords carried this standard along if the gaps in the cab frame can be excepted even if not accepted!! The Kane trailers also reek of appeal and look at the price tag, a prime example of Britains getting it right. If this new found standard can stay with Britains with the upcoming John Deere 3050 range then they'll sit gladly on my shelves. If only for a few new impliments, the ferry tanker in my opinion is a wasted addition what with a field tanker coming too. A good mower should have come first to join the round baler and wrapper just released and the self propelled foragers, Kane trailers and JCB loading shovel with fork. These are perfect examples of the range not having continuity.
  19. I too have done 'The Battlefields Tour' and stayed in Ypres as a 15 year old school boy. Tyne Cot is an image and a memory which will never leave me, line upon line of white headstone all placed upon a German machine gun post I believe, the two forward bunkers, one central command one under the cross and the two rears where now each end of the wall stands. Another thing which will forever stay with me and I have no problem admitting it - at 15 when your expected to be cool, popular and above all not a wet fart(!!!) I stood at Menin Gate for the last post and cried. It is terribly sombre hearing that echo in such silence. God know what men of the same age I was then and just a few years older went through nearly 100 years ago.
  20. Another little gentle drive around today picking up a shabby but good running 3cx near Lymington in Hampshire, dropped that off at the yard then picked up a lovely Fendt 310 Turbomatic and good genuine 290 with a Browns loader, bucket, spike, fork and grab. Bit of a squeeze but 'ol Tricky Dicky got it all on see!!
  21. Alan, really great to hear from you again bud. You've been far and wide by the sound of it. How did you land a job on civil work then and how long are you out there for? Be great to see a photo or two of what you have been doing...... Great to see your post buddy.
