  1. That looks like it could bake into some rock hard slabs over the coming few days....
  2. The need to re-mortgage aside, these are both lovely models. Let's hope that a blue New Holland T9 version also makes an appearance set on some nice wheels and I understand there is a wheeled version of the CR9090 to come at some point to.
  3. And not forgetting the Quadtrac - also very nice tracks....notice some similarities. Rear hitch detail, whilst not 100% authentic, is a nice step forward. The articulation point is fantastically detailed....but then I guess it should be for £90....
  4. As Tommy Cooper once said....and there's more...including one next to Britain's recent JD combine release
  5. To wet the appetite a little more....some further pics of the upcoming CR9090. It really is a nice model - although it's a shame to the tank lids don't open. It's definitely better than the Norev Lexion 770, although UH's Class Tucano gives it a run for it's money in the detail stakes. And it is a lot lot better than the MFs! UH can definitely do models really well when they put their mind to it!
  6. Aside from the rear wheels that do indeed look odd (almost like there are 4 large spokes with the power adjustable variable track bit sitting in front of them - unless Marge has actually made a working PAVT wheel that adjusts on the model!?), I'm going to reserve judgement until a few more photos appear. The angle is a bit odd and it's hard to tell if the front wheels are in the right place and the bonnet the right height or not - it almost looks like a wide angle photo lens has been used which might be part of the problem.
  7. Also just noted the brochure says 690 is 4wd - could this pic have 2wd wheels on a 4wd front axle and hence the drop nose appearance?
  8. Looking back at the resin prototypes, the main thing wrong with the 690 seems to be it has completely the wrong front axle - it appears to have a straight through axle but should actually have a 'stepped' up one (sorry don't know the right technical term). The prototype had the right one so very odd that this doesn't. On a more positive note, the 2640 has lost its monster air cleaner on the bonnet. So UH do listen a bit!
  9. It's amazing the same company that has produced the new Quadtrac ad CR9090 has managed to create these MF monstrosities! Saying that, I suspect that these are going to come in at quite a bit lower price than the eye watering price for the Quadtrac....is it really twice as good as the Wiking Xerion 5000? It reminds me of some of the unusual geometry of the Case Puma - another model that just isn't right sadly.
  10. It is exactly because Marge have done something unusual with this model that I'll be buying it. If it had been 'standard' it would be very similar to UH's recently released County machine. Unless I'm mistaken the only two customisations are 1. The decals and 2. large tyres - both of which are probably the simplest things of all to alter on a model anyway, so I can't believe this will cost them many, if any, sales.
  11. My main problem is my 1 year old son has become obsessed by classic tractor but he gets so excited, he shreds it. The front cover has already been lost on the latest issue.....
  12. Awesome model - UH look and learn - loving the fact that they have done something a little different. Hopefully the 8730 photos will appear soon as well as they are due in September. I hope they have changed the interior for these as well as the exterior and have put some decent tyres on that reflect their early 90s vintage - unlike UH...

    Direct Drilling

I guess I was thinking of some of the more modern machines - Claydon, JD750a, Mzuri strip till - that kind of thing. Perhaps some of these classify as min till rather than direct drill? Whilst I love the sight, smell and sound of ploughing, it does seem that maybe it has had its day as the mainstay of the cultivation regime. Rotational ploughing with min till/DD would seem a much more cost and time effective way of doing things.

    Direct Drilling

I've been reading through the BFF recently - a lot of interesting chat on there! Of particular interest is the Direct Drilling piece and got me wondering: 1. Does anyone on here have much experience of DD and the various kit used for this? 2. Are there any DD drills in 1/32 scale available - I can't immediately think of any but wonder if anyone else can? Feels like the 1/32 scale farmer should be starting to get to grips with DD/strip-till as it seems the way many are now heading in real farming
  17. What's wrong with it? Unusual to hear of Claas machines not performing?
  18. Yup the 8830 is a particularly bad model. They said after the article that they were going to release an improved version of it that addressed a number of the flaws raised....time will tell I guess.
  19. Atte H was talking about it on another post the other day - apparently all the manufacturers have been trying to get JD to give them licences but they just won't - or as you rightly point out - do it very slowly. I think JD like to maximise their royalties on everything they licence so I guess they think a slow drip-drip-drip of models over the years is the best way to do this....to be fair, they might well be right! I think Ford and UH have definitely missed a trick by allowing UH to basically dump every TW model and variant there is onto the market in about 6 months. And then there are the Marge versions as well. I've got 3 of the UH ones, but only because I reviewed them for Model Farmer - otherwise I would prob have bought just one. I'll buy one Marge one but prob no more. However, if they had released them over a 3 year period, I suspect in total I might have been tempted to buy a few more. I think UH are playing a very short term game at the moment - JD are clearly here for the long haul - after all, they've been around for 175 years already!
  20. Doesn't sound like Fuasrium has been a problem for you guys then?
  21. It isn't the model manufacturers not wanting to make these, it's that John Deere won't licence anyone to make them in either Europe or the US - I have no idea why, but they are very protective of their brand and perhaps only want their new machines to be released. I think the 4955 that Schuco are releasing this year is the first 1/32 scale SG2 cabbed tractor to come out since Ertl made the 3350. They seem to licence a little bit more in 1/16 scale for Ertl but that's about it. I'm quite surprised that JD haven't tried to close down the likes of Miniagripassion and others from making the custom models- apparently they are usually quite quick to get people to stop doing anything that involves the Deere brand - especially when they aren't getting a royalty for it. I suspect the New Holland TMs will come - would seem quite an obvious extension for Replicagri after they made the 8560 model last year.
