I'd be interested to know how you can tell that the grain tank lid is wrong on this model when it is closed...looking at pictures of the real 770 it looks pretty similar when closed to the 750. Obviously looks very different when open.
The reason for my guess on them being non-functional is that the last two Claas Harvester models in detailed form (the UH Tucano and Norev dominator) didn't have opening doors and normally in these promo pictures they like to show off as much detail as possible - so if things open and close they normally show it. Saying that, I also hope my guess is wrong! It will make for a better model if they open.
I should probably just be patient...and wait for some more pics to come out.
Just to clarify then - a few weeks ago there was a lot of discussion saying UH where going to produce a 7610. Was this incorrect and in fact it was these gen II models from Marge or are there still plans for a competing model from UH?
I don't think the problem was creating the 5640 first, I think it was the volume of the Industrial versions and the 66 models that has caused the problem. Based on the Farm Models website there were:
5640: 7000 units produced
5640 Industrial: 2500 units
6640: 11000
That's nearly 20000 units of basically the same model - that seems a lot to me for a model that is only sold through a few specialist outlets and mainly the UK. Let's hope they can clear these and so invest in the 6 cylinder model - rather than another x thousand 7740s.
I'm off to buy a 2wd 6640.
Couldn't you just rebadge a 6640 to a 7740? I'm hoping they create a 6cyclinder 78/82/83 model next as I wouldn't buy a 7740 as too similar to the 56 and 66.
As for the lower price, I would guess that they have a load of stock left over from the much larger manufacturing runs they did for the 6640 and hence need to clear it. The model has been out for over 18 months so I think a price drop now is fair enough.
Ertl have already announced their 1/64 version of the machine (Some months ago) so I think we can be fairly confident that NH will announce at Agritechnica.

Only 500 models...there must be a few people on here with more than this. This story was in the Metro newspaper this morning as well! No idea why!
Is this guy a member on here?
The Schuco model is an International Harvester 1455 - not a Case 1455. I.e. it is red and white, not red and black. Still plenty of them available - although i think overpriced as they are £5 more than a Wiking model, but don't have the same level of detail.
I'm off to look at my T6090 again as I obviously haven't looked carefully enough! I think the 6000's do have quite big cabs though...but I better check.
Hopefully the Case UH has just been photographed badly and it looks better in the flesh. G&M have them coming soon so I'd guess they'll be available by Spalding. It's odd because the UH T6090 is s good model on a par with Ros's T7070.
