  1. Carting hay bales with a 56 grab 4 miles down the road. Yesterday with two of us carting we managed 3000 bales, it was late finish! Later on in the day i put a stack down by the barn and released it and watched it fall over.... On counting the bales there were only 54! Found one by the side of the road on the way back but never saw the other one. either someone got a free bale for their bunny or it was in a car radiator
  2. The artic tipper lorry trying to overtake a cyclist on a narrow bridge and forcing me to brake hard and stop! The cyclist didn't look too happy either. What really annoyed me was the torrent of abuse i received as he drove past when i raised my hand in suprise/ annoyance. A phone call to the company (Lafarge Aggregates) should sort that idiot out!!! As i said on the phone we all make bad judgements when driving sometimes but it was his attitude that got me >
  3. Been to the Red Bull Air Race on the Thames today. Was a good day out and even managed to get a bit of a tan!!
  4. Great pictures there mate.... You must have been going flat out to stay in front of those two balers
  5. I've got mine in the cabinet now and have to say I'm very pleased with it, looks great beside the JD 7520 :). The steering angle is very small but that doesn't bother me, after all it is more a colectors model than anything else. Mars for this one in my opinion 8.5/10. Is any model perfect? Slightly different topic and one that should be separate perhaps..... Is there any model that poeple think is 100% correct or could not be improved for the same retail price?
  6. It uses the 7710 casting. To fit the rear wheels I filled the centres with wooden dowel. On the outside I cut the pin off the fixing stud and glued the circular bit to the centre of the wheel. On the inside I glued a circular piece of plasticcard. Then drilled a hole to accept the original axle. To fit the front wheels I just made their centres smaller using a thin strip of plasticard then pushed the original fixings through onto the axle.
  7. Have finally found some time to do some more to this one... Exhaust, air cleaner and head lights added. Steps from made from plastic. Rear linkage scratch built from plastic Still want to add work lights, number plate, interior cab detail, grab rails and indicators/side lights, Let me know what you all think and any suggestions Thanks
  8. Yep i have, had to go to nottingham so thought i'd go a bit further and have a look. Was a good day out! Think it was a bit quite though due to weather and travel problems. Have you been before then?
  9. The small one is made by nzg and cost ?38, the long reach cost ?45. I think UH will also be producing their version of the small one. The nzg model is much heavier and more robust but the UH detail is greater so you can't get everything! I am very pleased with it and recon its good value. The UH model is really only a display model like their tractors....
  10. The UH Komatsu long reach demolition excavator Detail on this machine is superb, the best i have seen for a long reach model. The paint finish has some small blemishes but doesn't really detract from the look of the model. In comparison to a Nzg Model the detail is higher but the finish is not quite as good. Generally very good and i'm happy.
  11. Building up two batwing topper blades with weld then grinding them to an edge again. Two large chunks taken out of them after cutting a metal rod that was concreted in the ground. It was a foot high and 1 1/2 inches round :o No chance of seeing it in the long grass, at least it didn't go through a tyre! A wheel rim went through it the day before but did't damage anything. Its a well built machine luckily!
  12. As long as the ground is not too soft and you are careful when turning round the agri tyres don't seem to do any harm... we've had no complaints yet! And thats after a good few years! Also what you must remember is that these pitches are do not belong to top football clubs, they are either local leagues or council owned.... the type you see marked out in your local park
  13. It has been direct drilled using a machine called a contravator, made by Charterhouse. It has not been done very well as half the seed tubes were blocked. The machine is simple really, there are pairs of discs in v formation about two inches apart which leave a groove for the seed to drop into. A heavy roller then closes the groove and also is used to meter the seed rate. The machine is a little wider than the tractor. I must have covered at least 60 pitches in the last few weeks, all in two directions some in three! I must just say i've done a better job than the picture!!
  14. Very true ;D If you look at the photo of the spreader being loaded you can see how big the heap of soil was by the soil on the tarmac.... Hate to think how much that cost, anyone know what topsoil is per tonne?
  15. NO 150t was what i meant! Thats what the owners wanted so thats what they got! A bit like last week when i was told to put 400kg of grass seed on ONE football pitch using a direct drill, tried to explain that grass seed doesn't grow well when its too thick but deaf ears. So as long as they pay i'll drive up and down all day :D Think the idea was to improve the soil quality as it was pretty poor. They were going to spread some grass seed ontop then harrow it.
  16. Was using this today to spread 150 tonnes of topsoil on a football pitch, A good machine although a little slow for soil but does the job! Doesn't get used much these days a few football pitches and a bit of lime spreading now and again.
