You've certainly got the formula cracked for this scratch building business John, I wouldn't know where to start with these complex chassis! Always amazed at how tidy the glazing is too, most jealous!

Thanks very much James. I’m certainly no engineer but I have a fairly mechanical mind and I think that probably helps. Also, when I look at something I try and work out how it was built in the first place and then try and replicate that in model form, it doesn’t always work, but it usually helps😉

Top work again John. Quiet alot off them worked around my area back in the 90s.  When the tractors and buckrakes were phased out from the silage pits.... these came on the scene. The Cat 910 and O&K were another popular machine then.

Thanks Justin. B today’s standards they’re a small machine, especially as they’re just under 90hp, but I bet back in the day they were some tool!

Looks really great John, excellent work👍. I made a Shelbourne Reynolds rape swather (Fortschritt E303) years ago, pre-3D printing, but it has fallen to bits now! Must have another go, using 3D printing this time!

Thank you Ian, they’re a fiddly thing to work on🙈

That was an awesome day John, even if you did have to put up with being on a blue one. 😀 Great to catch up. 🙂

Yes it was a good dayDavid, I enjoyed the natter… just wish you’d got me out of focus though😂

It also comes down to preference doesn't it.   For example you could go out and buy a perfectly good table that was made in a factory / by someone using power tools or you could buy the same table made by somebody from scratch with hand tools.  Sometimes it's nice to have something that's been produced using someone's raw skills.

Couldn’t have put that better myself Callum, for me personally I like to look at something and know it’s come from someone’s hands. It might not be perfect, but maybe that’s not always the point.

  6. As the resident Dinosaur here, I agree with a lot of what’s been said. There’s no doubt that the advances in 3D printing has led to a more affordable way for some models to be produced. As James says, it’s not for everyone, just like picking up a knife and a ruler isn’t for everyone either. I still think there will always be a place for both, and I also agree that there’s a lot of models out there yet to be tackled, especially from British manufacturers who are usually overlooked by the European manufacturers.

Thanks Jack👍 Yes I asked if David would blurr my face but he hasn’t, I’m struggling to live it down being on a blue one again😂

Really wanted the IH, but something about that cab looks off to me, not sure quite what though.

It doesn’t sit right at all Simon, it’s too high and looks much more like the 1455, which to be honest is probably what they’ve based it on to save tooling costs. Britains did a much better job than that!
