JD 6920s and heap of scrap erm I mean JD 590 baler :

We've finished baling now for 5-7 days at least, everything is cut and baled now until the wheat is ready so we have a bit of time to get it sorted out, trouble is the repair costs growing now along with our frustration level

My ******* JD baler AGAIN, its blown all its seals again today in the density valve and then got a puncture on the way back to the yard, the 6920s is also displaying a new and concerning transmission fault code So far this is what my baler has got through and the problems since I started baling last Tuesday, 7 days use since then...... Tuesday: Main Belt drive chain Forming roller drive chain Wednesday: No parts but starts leaking oil and stripping net wrap off bales Thursday: Oil leak worsens on density block Friday: New O rings fitted in density control block, blows them to pieces within 2 hours Pick-up roller casing splits and loses roller Saturday: New roller casing New bar roller New shaft bearing New Pick up drive chain O rings fitted in density block........again under 2 hours before they leak Monday: Baler tries to digest a swath board off the pickup Density controller packs up all together New pick up drive chain no.2 Tuesday: New density adjusting valve New shuttle valves New seals New o-rings Density pressure gauge packs up whilst testing block Wednesday: New density pressure gauge O rings/seals blow in block, leaking worse than before now Puncture in tyre Is it any wonder I'm tearing my hair out now, its driving us to despair > >

Finally finishing baling the 66 acre field I started on last Friday.......too many breakdowns and they haven't finished yet

Thats what I thought as the MX150 where I used to work had been screwdrivered up to 175hp as it was mechanically governed

I thought the MX Maxxum models had mechanical fuel pumps on them still so couldn't be chipped, screwdrivered yes, but not chipped, could be wrong though \

It is net............ Most people round here who own a JD 5** baler swear by them but this one seems to be a bit of a dog. If we didn't have a variable chamber baler then how else would we do 4 ft hay bales to fit the racks and 5 ft straw bales for bedding as 4 ft straw ones would be impractical for us both in terms of storage and time consumption

Looks a nice ride John. If its like the TS-A Range then if the green boost light is on on the dash the dial on the far right reacts to gravity rather fast :D

Trouble is we'd be looking at about £20k for the equivelant new baler like this one mate and if we bought second hand who's to say we won't get one with more problems \ I'll let you decide that one John :D

That ****** piece of **** of a ******* baler, tried to bale one of its own swath guides this morning taking me 5 hours to straighten and replace everything what got damaged on the pick up in the process, get back to the field at 3.45pm only for the bale density valve chest to give up the ghost completely withing 12 bales > > Now if we get a thunderstorm the 20 acres of straw will get soaked through, hopefully Ben Burgess can sort it once and for all this time.........either that or I'm getting a box of matches

Its a 5 walker machine, currently trying to find a second hand rape extension for it, not going to be easy \

Looks can be deceptive, there's 60 acres to the right of the combine, half of which had been cut and i'd only baled the headlands and 3 rounds in the field before my baler broke for the umpteenth time.......did get on well yesterday though, between 1pm and 7.30pm I got 131 bales done, now done 288 on that field so far with another 25-30 acres left to bale. Would be doing it today but, yep you guessed it, the balers gone wrong again

We do get a sea breeze from time to time there, trouble is we also get the sea mist roll in early as well \ Here's a couple more of the combine

I had one on the Lexion Ricky, got it off ebay, only a black and white one but it was perfect for the job. Used to just give the camera a wipe over every few days, gave a good view of the header trailer on the road as well

Definately not, thats why whenever things come up for change now the replacements will be of a different brand, even the manager is getting a bit fed up with the faults as its all downtime when we don't need it

Spent half the day repairing the JD baler AGAIN only this time I had two dealers engineers working on it with me, its the second time this week we've had the bale density valve block out and resealed it, each time it lasts a couple of hours before it blows oil out again, the pick-up cam casting also cracked yesterday so that had to be replaced as well. Block will be out again on Monday as its already leaking oil out worse than before

Its slow and won't feed the crop in very well, struggles to get a good sample at times as well, even the boss says he's prefer a Claas to it but thats what they have so he's stuck with it

Cheers mate, its not bad combining again, would be happier with the other shade of green though, never have liked JD combines and this one strengthens that feeling (think that answers your question as well Adam )

This is the view from where I was baling hay the other day, not very far from the sea at all. If anyone knows the area its Morston/Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast

We also started cutting barley on Wednesday, seems to be yielding well both in straw and grain. I've been baling behind the combine and taking over on the combine when the boss needs to be elsewhere or takes a break
