With it being wet I've started to overhaul the spud gear ready for planting, only thing with a clean bill of health is the Grimme planter, the destoner is rather sick needing two new hydraulic motors and numerous sprockets, chains and bearings, the ridger just needs wearing metal changed. 6920s on Reekie ridger Grimme GL32B planter
  5. I didn't get too involved with it other than sampling the burger van and taxi service, all I know is that he does a lot of fencing work now, spends more time on that than with the livestock
  6. Well it was very wet but a good turn out, needed two trailers in the end as 50-60 farmers turned up, even one from Cheshire

  9. Tried that...normally they shatter with force I smack them with, don't want to damage the shaft though thats the problem so cutting it completely off is going to be a delicate job
  10. A really stubborn bearing on the stone seperator's cross conveyor, I've thrashed it, I've heated it, I've cut half way through it and the blasted thing still won't come off the shaft

  17. We're actually in the Farmer's Weekly this week with our out wintering of cattle program if anyone is interested (link below) and have an open day this coming week for the same thing. All in the name of saving money on the all expensive feed http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/2009/01/22/113841/reducing-winter-feed-costs-is-possible-as-open-day-will.html
  18. Fairly busy as weather allows ploughing for this years beet crop and spring barley. Still have a lot of beet in the ground at the minute. Yes we have the Ropa here, not very popular with us though as it leves the ground muddy, wet and unworkable down the headland they are tipped on. Got the old cleaner and Hanomag coming next time though as the fields are unreachable by lorry

  22. Just a few pictures of our beet contractors kit parked up in our yard the other day, brand new this season 58 plate Verveat and his Claas Ares and trailer
  23. Broad beans, 99% sure on that as there is a farm not far from here growing them and harvesting them like that
