He is that Justin.. very much so, a modest man with a great talent... The photos don't do the models justice... I'd recommend to anyone to try and have at least one of John's builds in their collection... Well worth every penny π -

A couple of very recent additions from the master craftsman that is 844John and his scalpel and cutting mat... A 272 Synchro, 482, 804 and 484 JWD... I must admit pride of the collection was always my MFM 100s and 125 but now having John's handiwork in the flesh these may just have nosed in front as pride of the fleet π- 116 replies

Snook an hour in up at the shed to push the 472 on a bit, got the repair sections bent up out of a sheet at work this last week so set to with the grinder chopping out some of the rot ready to allow trimming the oversize panels to fit... Meanwhile, Gemma decided to tackle the roof, all seems solid so a good rub down and a coat of primer before being treated to a splash of silver -

Yet another stunning set of builds John... I guess though if we all followed same brand then it would make the world a boring place... One thing for sure though is you certainly know how to build a cracking model.... And you also know how to point and squirt with a camera π -

That was for the Finnish market, they preferred the sekura cab due to it having a roof hatch as a means of escape... Which was something in Finnish legislation of Tractor cabs... There are a version of the qm Leyland cab with a roof hatch on some of the parts books but to be honest I never seen one Nigel -

Stunning collection of builds there John π in my opinion that's better than any line up of Fergy or Ford ( best put my tin hat on now and get ready for the battle π) -

Wow John... You've done yet another grand build there.... what could be the first publically aired build of a JWD fieldmaster π for those on here who don't know, the JWD is the last legacy as it were to the Nuffield, built in very limited numbers by John Charnley and his sons William and David... they improved some of the niggling issues that the preceding Leylands and Marshall had...some will call it an improved engine by them going Perkins but I being a longstanding alligience to the 4/98 would have liked it to have seen the last incarnation of the Leyland engine used, available in 70 80 and 90 hp 4 pot configuration in 2 and 4wd they never sold that many... maybe just into double figures depending on who you ask.... I know if 3 all still in active use..... Think I need to set you a bigger challenge pardon the pun but if the 32nds look that good then the 16ths are going to be jaw dropping...... well done John hats off to you π -
Cracking shots there John... You certainly know how to draw us in, really looking forward to the next update π

Cheers John, aye a bit to do but once cabs back together, it's just a bit of wiring to get her mobile and then run her to see what develops... Hoping the steel sheet will be in at work this week, had a couple of trial mock ups bending the repair sections for the inner wing, I didn't knock enough off for the radiuses on the first attempt as ended up 1/8 of an inch out but think I've bossed it now.... As for structural bits there's only 2 pieces of 1" box to put in under the side windows so I'm hoping that will be next weekend job if all goes to plan... Once I've the panels bent up, a good couple of days will break its back -

Couple of hours up at the shed this morning on the 472.. pulling front panel of cab back in to a straight line against both of the the A pillars of the cab... top half of the windscreen frame needs same treatment whilst the screen is out, anyhows rust cleaned away, primed between then clamped up, stitched welded, seam sealed on both sides of the joints and given a coat of red lead primer for now... I think when new the cab corner was actually filled with body filler and then sanded to give a slight radius but that will be for another day..... time for a coffee me thinks π -
Definitely will be a show that's missed by many...

Valley Axeman's 1/16th collection

It would need some size of table John, off the top of my head I've 4x 460s 7x 1060s 2x 345, 3x 465, 1x 344, 7x 384, and 3x 272 and out of that lot 4 have winches, and 10 are 4wd.... Oh and one has a loader..... But hopefully some will get chance to see light of day this year. π -

Thanks John well yes and no... There's still a bit of space yet, would be worse if they were or all ever end up in cabinets..... Then they take some serious room up, hopefully get one or two of these back out to some shows this year... Almost forgot what it's like to take models to a show it's been that long....π€ -

Valley Axe Man replied to Valley Axe Man's topic in Share Your Collection
Thanks Justin, yes Brian's 384s look good, not a bad representation of one, as no mainstream builder offers 16th scale Leylands, and the nearest 32nd ones off a mainstream builder were the scaledown ones that Nigel did with cabs... but I think we both know of a master craftsman on here that one day might blow us away with a stunning creation π€πBrian has plans in place to alter the cab slightly to include a rear window and also the deeper section wings off the later QM cab as found on the synchros and silver stripe 10 speed Leylands so given time a true 472 will appear which will be a given that one will be going to join the collection π speaking of wheels though to be true to form it would need a set of PAVT wheels and also flat center 28s for the front... -

Cheers Smithy, aye he's got a thing about mince pies.... But oddly he seemed to like dropping down folks chimneys.... Sounds a bit dodgy to me like.... π€£ Yes a bit of a haul but would have been rude not to get the 4wds after seeing them at Newark.... Though Gemma did say about getting a cab for the 345 to make it like my old real one.... but that will need to be sorted with the other fella with a big beard π
