Front Mounted Hay Rake
An Interested Spectator replied to An Interested Spectator's topic in Farm Talk
Having mentioned front mounted rakes, heres the other option -
Having had 30 years in the 'the job' i have driven plenty of 'panda' cars that would be a lot slower than the JD ! 1970's 1100 Ford Escort anyone ? Adie

Just noticed the above tedder being advertised on the farmmodels web site. What size of tractor would you need for this size of (real) tedder ? It appears to be a six rotor machine. Is this a "big" machine for this type of tedder ? I don't work with (real) farm kit so judging such things are not always easy. The main model manufactures always seem to go for the biggest in any item, which does not always fit with those of us interested in machinery used on smaller farms. Cheers in advance Adie

Classic Tractor never lets me down. Always a cracking magazine every month. I always judge how good an issue is by how often I will go back and reread articles in it. This October issue will come under the heading of most often thumbed. Cracking MF 3000 fleet, small balers, MF 8100 series case study, Oldest Zetors, Yellow Giants etc. One of the best Rory has done. Two minor points. Found a couple of typos which i have never noticed before, outside the small ads section, and in the small baler article the writer says Lely are only manufacture selling new small balers into the UK. The MF web site is showing the 1800 series as still being available. But I stress I am being very picky over a very good issue.

On Youtube are a few clips of hay rakes mounted on front linkages with, usually, round balers and or baler/wrappers, and in one case a trailed forager behind. Does anyone have any experience of this. Was wondering what the pros/cons were beyond the obvious doing two tasks in one pass ? Cheers Adie.

Corn harvest - South Devon
An Interested Spectator replied to RichardJW1's topic in Other Farm Equipment
Richard, Was driving past your place about 10 days ago. I was expecting this thread to start up again. Spent more of my childhood than I care to remember fishing off the beaches at South Milton and Bantham. Some of the best Bass i have ever had. Always remember looking foward to seeing the big wheeler County's in the area (late 1960's & 1970's) as we never saw such beasts in Somerset. Glad your keeping the local assocation alive. -

More US MF's I suspect 'Red & Rolling' might have to become the new forum name for yours truly. -

Nice job as usual. Vaguely (very vaguely) reminiscent of a Thomas 95-100. 2 wheel drive, long square cut bonnet and square'ish cab. -
MF Drum mowers
An Interested Spectator replied to An Interested Spectator's question in Custom Model Methods/Tips/Help
Guys, A thousand thankyou's for your time and trouble in posting the pics. Let the work commence ! Cheers Adie -
I want to use the old Britains 2 drum mower as the base for an MF drum mower from the '70's - '80's. Can anyone help me with any pictures of MF branded drum mowers from this era. Any picture would help and the more the merrier. Cheers as ever. Adie

Just a bit of fun this one. No intention of producing anything found in the 'real' world, just a a little run of the imagination. Got a Britians Shawnee Poole trailer from Shepton Mallet Toy and Train Fair for a couple of quid. One of the hitch arms was broken off and it was in serious need of a wash and disinfect !! Went for a straight draw bar and painted it in the 'house colours'. The big wheels are just a bit of fun, I have a set of Britains JD 4020 rear wheels that also go on it. As an aside, I thought I had done the draw bar far too short. However, by pure chance, I passed a yellow very similar trailer behind an old Ford 7000 on the road, and that was very close coupled to the tractor, so i am using that as my excuse for leaving it as it is !

Mark, Well done that man. You are an excellent advocate for the brand. My only surprise is that you found a journalist who could actually accurately record what you said. My experience is that they are genetically incapable of get anything right. Well done again Adie -

Britains Goose Neck Dump Trailer
An Interested Spectator replied to An Interested Spectator's question in Custom Model Methods/Tips/Help
Tractorman810, Thanks for that. I keep coming across these trailers with broken hitches for sale for a couple of quid. I was thinking about cutting the goose neck of at its base and grafting on a normal draw bar. This will be a lot easier if the chassis is hollow. cheers, adie.
