Paul Palmer
just a little update,a couple of signs, made by henri walker, finally named the farm, decal just put over the original britains sign, and a dead end sign stuck to a bit of card, the pole is a cotton bud

Lady Ferguson
I know mate but it just makes the difirence! Johny's dead right (you should see his dealership diorama!)... it's the little details that make a layout. A field of tractors looks good, but the layouts that keep you coming back to check for updates are the ones with a new barn, a pond, a farm sign, a muddy track or a workshop. It's all these small additions that add realism and bring out the best in your farm and it's machinery

Paul Palmer
anybody help ,looking for some opinions,im seriously thinking of getting a silage team, however,my main problem is not wanting to overload the layout, field not a problem,i could make 3 different covers for the large field i have, silage field, corn field, young corn so i can show off the sprayer and a coir mat corn field so i can show off a harvest scene,my problem is, at least i will need another building for the yard, which is big now, plus the obvious layout costs for triple mowers, rake ,forager,at least 2 silage trailers and 2 tractors,i wouldnt do a pit as i dont have animals and dont need one,so basically do i stay arable or arable with silage team, please all views welcome, i would be looking at a cost roughly of £200.00 for the machinery and shed, perhaps money i could spend on the arable side, cheers paul
Tractorman810
i dont really have that problem given my ones made for arable and pigs, same as the real ash tree, grove fm and spearshead fm were all them years back, only issue i have is getting beet stuff made as we did do that many years back, and occasional peas to, the spuds are a sort of comprimise for me although more grown this year i would stick to one sort, although you can do guest shows for pics from time to time, i have done grass once or twice as a contractor mind
Paul Palmer
sort of what i was thinking sean, my layout is based roughly were i worked, but also done a lot of silaging for tim bloye and a small contractor in okehampton, the firm i work for know just hires out 2 silage trailers,he doesnt do anything else towards silage,he grows maize, but then he hires in a contractor for that, but perhaps as you said ,buy a forager and trailer and say their working next door to me,would like to do a couple of pictures i must say, could get the britains jd or nh foragers as a lot cheaper than the siku or norscot claas ones, thanks mate
Pete
Its always nice to have a something else but then you do run that risk off overload, have you reached a point of not been able to add more interest to what is there now??

Fenside MF
Go on paul go for a silage team You could do maize silage only, then you would only need a chopper and trailers. Have you got your grain trailers yet? if not maybe scratchbuild them with hydraulic back doors then you could build removeable silage sides to go on them so you could also use them for arable harvest and silage, just thought I'd throw those ideas in. Deere-est
Why not specialise in something arable, ie have a crawler or even do it with your Quadtrac but have more machinery to use with it than maybe you would have for one estate. So that you could provide a service to other large estates? Or base it on a joint farming enterprise where you have the primary mover shared by two or more farms but each farmer has his own choice of cultivation kit? Just ideas mate.
