JC
Just doing a bit of browsing and came across this "thing" !! How common are these?? http://www.bergenindustries.com/swather.html
CCF
Never seen one of those before!!! Would think that it would beat the living crud out of the engine though hauling around something that heavy. :o
the other green
All over the place here Doc, like you'd expect. Although it's not a problem to tootle down the gravel back-roads driving your self-propelled swather, it's a pain in the rear when you meet another one or any other piece of harvest machinery for that matter, so most guys have a swather carrier so the transport width is less. Also speed comes into the picture too, swathers are quite slow on the road. (top speed of about 15 MPH) but once it's on the carrier 50 MPH behind the pick-up is no bother. It's not gonna bother the V8 petrol engines or big diesels in North American pick-ups.
JC
I've found quite a few variants of the trailer from different manufacturers so it must be a common practice. \
