On the road with a Agricultural Engineer

Thanks!

There is a shortage of agricultural engineers as less and less people are willing to do the job. Long, unsociable hours, working outside in all weathers, stress, and heavy dirty work are some of the bad points. Good points being out in the countryside, working on your own, being able to work on lots of different tractors telehanders etc. After fourteen years still enjoying it.

I did a three year appertership level 2 & 3 NVQ. So I was employed from day one so didn’t have go and look for a job after I had finished my course.

Have you spoken to any dealers to see if they will sponsor you through collage? Any chance of an apprentership? Most major manufactures JD, Class, JCB.MF etc. have set up their own appertership programmes with collages so dealer apprentice’s get very good training.

Good look with your interview.

Ben

Apprenticeships seem to be the way forward and ive seen on a lot of differant things 'time served mechanic required' etc,i probably should have looked down the apprenticeship route but what puts me off that is tech,im not saying theres anything wrong with it,i just cant be bothered with the concept of it,sound awful lazy but sure.

I also should have went to dealers aswell but im a bloke, blokes dont think logically about these things,or the blokes i know dont anyway,i might actually go to my local NH dealer some of these days and ask about anything they can do. Reason i say NH there is its my closest,no preferance dealer wise of course.

Being in northern ireland none of the companies seem to care and they all just seem to ship you to tech,or thats how it looks to me,yous boys in england have it handy enough how i see it ha ha!.

Cheers for the response and advice, its helped! :)

Nice photos, that NH's bucket is massive. :of It seems like it would lack lifting power with a full bucket.

Thanks!

I think my photo makes the bucket look bigger then it was! The shovel did not seam to stuggle to lift a full load of grain in to a lorry ;D
