Markies Fence Post... funny eh...get it

Lord Ferguson

Question

As promised... here's my MKI fencing.... Like a Twirp I made it too small.... measure twice... cut once... I measured once... cut eight times, glued, painted, errected and then found out I'd made it 20mm too small - what a pillock... never mind - there is a lesson for you all  ;)

Posts are 4mm plastrut (using 5mm on the MKII model) - glued, drilled, mounted on my 500mm moveable base idea so I should be able to move the fencing around my layout.. base bosard will be painted (well not this one as it will be scrapped when the MKII comes out  ::)) - Chainlink is just insect mesh (thanks whoever had that idea but I picked it up in a JCB bucket post I think  ;)) - What do you reckon... tell me your HONEST opinion... I won't take a fence  :D :D :D::):-\

Beeyootiful Marky. :)

Is the real fence set at 90 degrees with you? When we did ours, we had to cut the sheets of mosquito mesh at a 45 degree angle to get the "diagonal" look we needed to make it look like the way they set the real stuff up here. Y' don't half end up with a lot of waste having to do it that way though.  :(

real fence comes in rolls, known as wire chainlink fence and that is set at the 45deg angle, just unroll it and put it up. You can also get welded mesh fence which is horizontal/vertical, but that comes in panels...if that makes sense? ???:) :)

Thanks TOG... I cut mine square to be honest.... couldn't be bothered to cut at an angle as this mesh is a bit fragile to say the least - it comes apart when you cut it as well  ::)

tell you what would work if you did want the angle mark, the mesh you use for glass plastic repairs on cars,i have it for the marston silage trailers, but having seen yours will use some of that in future as they are ment to be square, the stuff i have is in sheets of 30 cm odd square and cost about 1.50 from a car shop

somethink like 30cm wide by 40 cm long, got a sheet in the shed, when i go out i will measure it up for ya

Thanks anyway Sean... but that won't be long enough mate - I am making my modular layout from 500mm squares/lengths - I wouldn't want to have to join a sheet on a run of fencing if you see what I mean - I'm currently cutting one long length... oh well - Square it is then  ::);D;)
